About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
As a Software Architect, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-level architecture solutions, primarily focused on distributed systems, and providing technical leadership to various teams. You will be expected to work closely with development teams, make key decisions on system design, and guide the development of highly scalable and maintainable systems. This role requires someone with exceptional expertise in Java, Spring Framework, and System Design. You will leverage your deep understanding of architecture patterns, distributed systems, and software engineering best practices to shape the future of our products.
Responsibilities:
Architecture and Design: Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance systems using Java, Spring, and other cutting-edge technologies. Focus on creating robust, maintainable, and extensible software architectures.
System Design: Drive the creation of High-Level Design (HLD) documents, ensuring that the design aligns with both technical requirements and business goals. Make decisions on technical frameworks, patterns, and tools.
Distributed Systems: Architect solutions that can scale and perform well in a distributed environment. Design microservices and cloud-native applications that are resilient and fault-tolerant.
Decision-Making: Own the architecture decisions and provide technical guidance to the engineering team. Influence project direction with informed decisions about trade-offs, design approaches, and technology choices.
Mentorship and Collaboration: While the role is an individual contributor, you will work closely with engineering leaders, product managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful product delivery. Provide mentorship and technical leadership to development teams.
Continuous Improvement: Drive best practices in coding, design, testing, and deployment. Ensure adherence to software development standards and improve processes to enhance productivity and quality.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Participate in discussions around business goals and product features to align the architecture with strategic objectives.
Requirements:
Minimum 18 years of experience in software development and architecture, with a strong focus on designing scalable and high-performance systems.
Expertise in Java Spring Framework and Kafka.
Strong background in system design, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
Proven experience in creating High-Level Designs (HLD) and defining system architecture for complex, large-scale applications.
Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Technical Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
Strong understanding of performance tuning, scalability, and fault tolerance in large systems.
Expertise in decision-making around trade-offs, architectural styles, and technology selection.
Leadership and Collaboration:
Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and executives.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers and senior developers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
Certifications: Relevant certifications in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc. ) or architecture frameworks are a bonus.
Tools and Technologies:
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Experience with NoSQL databases (e. g., MongoDB, Cassandra) and relational databases (e. g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
Familiarity with event-driven architecture and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
