Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer 3 with a strong focus on Teradata database engineering, complemented by exposure to cloud technologies, Unix, and shell scripting. In this role, you will lead and manage the systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations functional area, ensuring high levels of availability and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations functional area.
Contribute to increasing system efficiencies and reducing human intervention time on related tasks.
Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure optimal systems and infrastructure availability.
Collaborate with vendors and technical personnel for effective problem resolution.
Guide the team to meet technical deliverables while leveraging a solid understanding of technical process controls and standards.
Coordinate processes between different teams, possibly across various locations.
Produce deployment, implementation, and run book plans.
Conduct release readiness and milestone reviews.
Maintain release schedules for core systems, ensuring alignment with major vendors and stakeholders.
Develop automation and release management tools, along with scripts necessary for software release construction, continuous integration, and deployment.
Research new software development methods and techniques for managing configurations based on business needs.
Utilize troubleshooting skills and collaborate closely with operations, support, engineering, and other functions.
Manage stakeholders and work with multiple cross-functional teams that are geographically dispersed.
Assume other duties and responsibilities as directed by management.
Ensure quality, security, and compliance requirements are met for the supported area.
Exhibit initiative, flexibility, and adaptability in all tasks.
Mandatory Skills:
Proficient in Teradata database administration.
Strong experience in software infrastructure management and configuration management.
Excellent knowledge of various database platforms including SQL, Teradata, Oracle, and Exadata.
Familiarity with heterogeneous database structures or enterprise data warehouses.
Good understanding of the software development lifecycle.
Expertise in monitoring, ing, and dashboard solutions, along with batch support experience.
Proficient in SharePoint, JIRA, ServiceNow, and change/release management.
Understanding of data center operations, including production operations, server, storage, network, system management, and disaster recovery practices.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Agile methodologies and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
Demonstrated self-learning capability to ramp up quickly without extensive instruction or training.
Experience in coordinating cross-functional work teams to task completion.
Qualifications:
Experience in Systems Engineering and Technology Architecture, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education
