The Intermediate Quality Engineer is responsible for leading the quality assurance and control functions for the wire payments and commercial payments hub platform. This role ensures robust, secure, and compliant payment processing solutions by overseeing test planning, execution, automation, and compliance with regulatory and security standards. The incumbent collaborates with product, development, and operations teams to deliver high-quality solutions supporting business objectives.
The core responsibilities for the job include the following:
Testing Coordination and Execution:
Develop, publish, and execute test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, automation scripts, virtualization, status reports, and defect and exit reports.
Identify and obtain required test data and test environments.
Develop, publish, and execute testing estimates and manage financials related to testing activities.
Track and report QA/QE metrics and KPIs such as velocity and defect slippage.
Defect and Compliance Management:
Manage defects throughout their lifecycle, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
Identify, manage, and implement remediation for any noncompliance items and deviations.
Ensure adherence to QA/QE standards and support the implementation of new standards.
Recognize and identify areas for process, policy, or tool improvement.
Technical Leadership:
Provide input, feedback, and challenges to technical designs and assess impacts to testing.
Identify and implement automation, AI, or other emerging solutions to expedite testing and improve quality.
Lead the adoption of automation frameworks and tools.
Cross-Functional Relationship:
Collaborates with project managers, business analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to coordinate testing activities and ensure alignment with project objectives.
Works closely with development teams to provide feedback on technical designs and assess testing impacts.
Interacts with external vendors and tool providers to evaluate and integrate testing solutions.
Partners with other QA/QE professionals across the organization to share best practices and drive continuous improvement.
Authorities/Decision Rights:
As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Job Dimensions:
Responsible for the delivery of testing services for assigned projects/initiatives, supporting retail banking, mobile, web-based, UX, API, and accessibility testing.
Provides technical and process leadership to ensure quality standards are met.
Supports achievement of business unit goals through effective quality engineering and testing practices.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
5+ years of QA/QE experience, 1-3 years of development/automation.
Web/mobile testing, UX, accessibility.
Experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS, web services).
Must-have skills:
Proficiency with UI automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium).
Programming in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Java.
Writing and executing automated UI test cases.
Version control (Git), CI/CD integration.
Test management tools (JIRA, ALM).
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Nice to have:
API testing (REST/SOAP).
Mobile automation tools (Perfecto, Appium).
Experience with Gen AI tools (GitHub Copilot).
Experience with cross-browser/device testing.
BDD/TDD practices.
