The Global Technology DevOps Engineer Development role is responsible for maintaining, enhancing/improving, implementing, and supporting the DevOps organisations. You will be supporting the teams using DevOps tools while providing guidance on best practices, standards and policies. The focus of this position will revolve around Work Management, Source Code Management, and Pipeline Management in working with customers throughout the company, primarily involving Microsoft GitHub and Azure DevOps platforms and products.
Responsibilities:
Manage code using Git, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews.
Collaborate with other developers through Issues, Discussions, and Projects.
Maintain and contribute to repositories, including documentation, README files, and CI/CD workflows.
Develop and implement new features, fix bugs, and optimise existing code.
Work with Actions/pipelines for automation and deployment.
Monitor and manage repository security and access control.
Contribute to open-source or internal packages/modules if applicable.
Embed with less knowledgeable end-user teams to improve or reconcile their utilisation of DevOps systems and practices.
Create DevOps-related documentation or training for others to utilise.
Review and approve YAML code.
Mentor and coach other team members.
Provide status updates for completing stakeholder status reports.
Create/Update automation processes/scripts.
Work with Architectural resources in the creation or improvement of DevOps practices, patterns, and standards.
Complete tasks within specified deadlines.
Understand the portfolio of opportunities and how we can successfully move the organisation forward strategically.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Information Systems, Systems Engineering, or a related field, plus 6 years of experience with Microsoft Application development or a related occupation in DevOps Development.
Must have the Following Professional Skills/experience:
5+ years of experience as a Developer using DevOps practices.
5+ years of experience as a Developer using DevOps Systems.
5+ years of experience working with Build and Release automation.
5+ years of experience working with GIT repositories.
5+ years of experience in application analysis, design and n-tiered architectural patterns.
5+ years of experience in ADMinistration of DevOps Systems.
4+ years of experience using PowerShell, or an equivalent scripting language.
4+ years of experience using Docker and container orchestration.
4+ years of experience working with Agile and ITIL methodologies.
4+ years of experience in Cloud-Based Technologies and platforms (Azure is highly preferred).
Extensive keyboard operations.
Perform on-call duties.
Work occasional weekends, holidays and overtime.
4 Year degree in an IT-related field or equivalent competency.
