Job Description
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional to support data management, reporting, and insights across a global investment portfolio. This role sits at the intersection of data analytics, regulatory reporting, and stakeholder engagement, offering significant exposure across investment, asset management, legal, and compliance functions. The successful candidate will bring rigorous analytical discipline, exceptional project management capabilities, and the commercial judgment to translate complex data into actionable insight.
Data Management & Analytics
Manage large and complex quantitative and qualitative datasets across multiple operational metrics with a high degree of accuracy
Coordinate and optimize relationships with third-party data and reporting platforms
Embed robust data quality assurance frameworks, partnering with data providers to enhance accuracy and completeness
Integrate financial and operational datasets to support analytics and reporting
Monitoring & Performance Tracking
Build and maintain institutional-grade dashboards to track compliance and performance against regulatory and investor commitments, and maintain central knowledge repositories
Apply analytical rigor to assess value creation, risk exposure, and mitigation across the portfolio
Interpret regulatory changes to anticipate and quantify forward-looking risk
Conduct materiality assessments and stakeholder-priority analysis to inform decision-making
Establish escalation protocols to alert responsible parties in cases of underperformance
Reporting & Project Management
Project-manage recurring reporting cycles across multiple regulatory and disclosure frameworks, ensuring timely, accurate delivery
Coordinate seamlessly across investment, asset management, legal, and compliance stakeholders
Produce clear, compelling written materials, including investor communications, case studies, and executive summaries
Navigate legal and compliance review and sign-off processes with discipline and attention to detail
Research & Insights
Research and synthesize emerging themes relevant to investment and portfolio management
Develop thought leadership, training content, and internal and external updates
Distill complex market and industry research into concise, actionable summaries for senior audiences
Process Optimization
Identify and implement automation and AI-enabled solutions to drive efficiency and scalability
Develop and maintain toolkits, guidance documents, calculators, and training resources
Execute administrative and operational processes with precision (e.g., vendor onboarding, contracting, invoicing)
Qualifications & Attributes
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; strong academic track record
At least 2 years of professional experience in investing, finance, data analytics or related fields
Demonstrated experience in data analytics, reporting, or a related field within a fast-paced, professional environment
Hands-on experience building with modern AI tooling, including LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, embeddings and vector databases
Exceptional analytical ability with meticulous attention to detail
Exposure to private equity, investment banking, consulting, or operating roles in portfolio companies, with experience supporting data-informed decision-making.
Proven project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders
Collaborative team player who thrives in a dynamic, high-performance culture, and is comfortable working across multiple regions
Proactive, intellectually curious, and adaptable, with sound commercial judgment and the highest standards of integrity
INTERNAL USE ONLY: ESG SPECIFIC RESPONSIBITIES
Data collection & management
Quantitative & qualitative data management: day to day management of energy/water/waste/GHG/other sustainability data and reporting vendor (Cambio), focussing on;
effective management of ESG DD stage surveys
effective distribution, collection and analysis of bi-annual portfolio wide ESG surveys
Non-ESG data: work with stakeholder across the firm to collect non ESG data relevant for reporting and data analytics (positional & financial data)
Data quality checks and assurance: Embed/undertake data quality assessments that enable data owners/providers to improve data accuracy and completeness
Monitoring / dashboard
Track investment/portfolio level compliance with regulatory and investor level ESG commitments and ensure appropriate escalation processes are in place to alert responsible parties in case of underperformance.
Value creation: Build and maintain dashboard to globally track and analyse ESG value creation and protection across all investments.
Legislative horizon scanner: leverage the legislative horizon scanner produced by external legal council to assess (future) risk exposure across the global portfolio
Physical Climate Risk: On a (bi) annual cadence, collate and analyse physical climate exposure across the global portfolio, assess mitigants in place/planned, and identify areas of high-risk exposure that require improved management.
LP interest: On a bi-annual cadence, collate and analysis LP ESG DDQs and provide a ranking the different ESG topics based on materiality to the LPs.
Exit liquidity & tenant demand: leverage the GS ESG House View on ESG best practices to assess the global portfolio and identify areas of poor alignment/potential for improvement
Reporting
Project manage the delivery of ESG reporting throughout the year, including but not limited to: TCFD (10x), SFDR (2x) and GRESB (2x). This includes engagement with internal stakeholders (S&I core, portfolio management, asset management, legal, compliance) and external vendors (Cambio, Watershed, Apex, Longevity)
LP letters: work with the regional implementation managers to produce case studies and leverage ESG data collected to produce concise and insightful LP letters for selected funds
FPPs, BPs: Prepare materials to summarise compliance updates, key risks and (value creation) opportunities for FPs and BPs. Liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure materials are centrally integrated.
LP DDQs: Work with the S&I Core team to maintain a central FAQs document for LP ESG DDQs. Prepare the initial draft of any LP DDQs received throughout the year.
L&C sign off: Liaise with internal legal & compliance teams to ensure any reporting materials are reviewed and signed off in a timely manner.
Insights & research
Preparation of internally & externally facing quarterly updates, and thought leadership
Undertake research, prepare training and advance practical implementation of emerging sustainability topics such as biodiversity, circular economy, social value, new energy systems etc.
Market updates: Collate and assess global industry research and summarise key findings for the ESG team
Economy of scales: assess ESG actions underway across the global portfolio to identify potential economy of scales
Optimisation of processes
Identify opportunities to integrate automation/AI into our day-to-day processes in order to achieve team efficiencies
Maintain the toolkit available to out deal and asset management teams incl. the Global ESG Guidebook, ESG due diligence tracker, ESG reporting cost calculator, training materials, pitch decks etc.
Develop a good understanding of the GS ecosystem to identify opportunities for alignment and support. The connection with the GS Alts Sustainability & Impact Core team will be critical in this.
Optimisation and execution of administrative tasks where relevant and appropriate (e.g. vendor onboarding, contracting, invoicing etc.)
