CIO Investment & Wealth Solutions in the CIO Private Bank (f/m/x)
DB Global Technology is Deutsche Bank’s technology centre in Central and Eastern Europe. Since its set-up in 2013, Bucharest Technology Centre (BEX) has constantly proven its capacity to deliver global technology products and services, playing a dynamic role in the Bank’s technology transformation.
We have a robust, hands-on engineering culture dedicated to continuous learning, knowledge-sharing, technical skill development and networking. We are an essential part of the Bank’s technology platform and develop applications for many important business areas.
The role is directly reporting to the CIO of the Private Bank (PB) and manages ~500 internal employees covering IT change- and run the bank. Primary focus is on the IT applications and processes for the Private Bank to deliver investment and wealth solutions to its clients including investment advisory, discretionary portfolio management, order management, trading & execution, and reporting. Secondary focus is the oversight of the local IT organizations in Switzerland, Luxembourg, UK and in the US that serve the local wealth mgmt. businesses. The IT team for the Investment and Wealth Solutions domain (~400 int. employees) is based in Germany, India (Pune) and Romania (Bucharest). The IT teams for the four countries in EI&US (~100 int. employees) are partly onsite and partly in India (Pune) and Romania (Bucharest).
The CIO Investment and Wealth Solutions is responsible for defining and executing the technology strategy for Private Bank investment solutions and wealth management offering, ensuring alignment with Deutsche Bank Group, TDI, and CIO PB strategies. The role is accountable for the development, delivery, and operation of technology solutions supporting Private Bank investment products (including advisory and discretionary portfolio mgmt.), order management and trading & execution.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Transformation
Define and execute the technology strategy for Investment and Wealth Solutions.
Drive modernization, simplification, automation, and standardization of investment platforms, processes, and applications.
Lead the implementation of target architectures and the Private Bank Target Operating Model related to Investment Solutions and wealth mgmt. products
Promote innovation through process automation, AI-enabled capabilities, and data-driven solutions.
Support the consolidation and modernization of the Private Bank investment and trading platform to enable business growth and scalability.
Technology Delivery & Operations
Lead the technology teams responsible for the development, maintenance, and operation of Investment and Wealth Solutions applications.
Oversee strategic technology programs and major change initiatives across the Investment and Wealth Solutions domain.
Ensure delivery of high-quality technology solutions and services for business stakeholders.
Maintain the stability, resilience, security, and compliance of all applications and platforms within the domain.
Drive continuous improvements in service quality, operational efficiency, and application reliability.
Governance, Risk & Control
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk management standards.
Strengthen technology controls and reduce operational and technology risk through standardization and simplification.
Oversee application governance, technology investment priorities, and execution of change programs.
Stakeholder & People Leadership
Act as a trusted advisor to senior management and business stakeholders on Investment and Wealth Solutions technology matters.
Foster collaboration across business, operations, and technology functions.
Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing technology organization, promoting engagement, inclusion, and talent development.
Overall Objective
Deliver a modern, stable, secure, and scalable technology landscape for Private Bank Investment and Wealth Solutions that enhances client experience, supports regulatory compliance, and enables sustainable business growth.
Skills
University degree in IT or in business management with strong affinity to IT / technology.
Significant multi-year experience in leading IT organizations and in large IT change projects covering the investment domain (experience with IT for wealth management operations in international markets beneficial).
Ability to work across functions and organizations, strong stakeholder management skills.
Strong business acumen and experience with investment products and services offered by the Private Bank to its clients and related delivery processes.
Fluency in English is required while German language is a strong plus.
Ability to work in partnership with business stakeholders and other IT units to deliver end-to-end solutions
