This position works out of our Sturgis, MI location in the Abbott Nutrition division. What You’ll Work On
Assists in development, planning, and execution of all plant-related facility engineering activities including a wide variety of mechanical, plumbing and electrical components supporting the Energy Center and utilities distribution throughout the site. The Associate Utilities Engineer will develop and gain a deep understanding of water treatment systems, energy distribution, heat exchangers, HVAC, and infrastructure.
This role provides engineering support to all aspects of the infrastructure of the facility
Analyze system failures to determine source and cause
Participate in evaluating system conditions and developing long term obsolescence and sustainability plans.
Applies working knowledge of engineering disciplines and independently conceives and develops approaches to problem solving that requires advanced technical knowledge
Plans and conducts small to medium-sized projects. Responsibilities include detailed project planning/monitoring, budgeting, project reviews, implementation, validation, and release to production
Promote and drive continuous improvement programs utilizing common problem-solving tools and methodologies in processes and procedures within the
Ensure delivery of effective performance management while establishing and sustaining a positive work environment.
Follows escalation reporting process with inputs from peers/manager for decision making as required. Make and communicate decisions that are appropriate for level of accountability.
This position will work to coordinate external contractors to perform work in a cost effective and safe manner.
You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
B.S. in Engineering with a preference for a Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with engineering responsibility in a regulated industry, with preference being for food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, etc.
Project planning experience
Demonstrated leadership skills in a plant facilities maintenance environment
Knowledge of project planning tools and experience using them
Experience working with and implementing Continuous Improvement tools & methodologies
Work experience in the food / medical industry under FDA regulation

The base pay for this position is
$50,700.00 – $101,300.00
