Role Description The Regional Collections Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai, responsible for overseeing debt collection activities across an assigned region. This role includes managing and guiding collections teams, monitoring portfolio performance, and implementing strategies to improve recovery rates while maintaining compliance with regulatory and internal policies. The manager will analyze collection data, identify risk trends, and coordinate with branch, credit, and risk teams to ensure timely resolution of delinquent accounts. Daily responsibilities include setting performance targets, reviewing field and agency performance, conducting audits and quality checks, and ensuring customer interactions are handled professionally and ethically. The role also involves preparing reports for senior leadership, supporting process improvements, and aligning regional collections practices with Axis Bank’s customer-centric and responsible banking standards.
Qualifications
Strong collections and recovery management skills, including experience in portfolio monitoring, delinquency control, and debt negotiation.
Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and use of MIS tools to track performance, identify trends, and support decision-making.
Solid knowledge of banking operations, retail lending products, and regulatory guidelines related to collections and customer handling.
Proven team leadership capabilities, including people management, performance coaching, and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to handle sensitive customer situations professionally.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple locations, agencies, and priorities effectively.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, commerce, business administration, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification or MBA in finance or banking is an advantage.
Prior experience in regional or zonal collections management in banking or financial services, particularly in retail or SME portfolios, is highly desirable.
Comfort with on-site field coordination, including travel within the region as required for branch visits, agency oversight, and audits.
