Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Technical Architect with deep expertise in IBM Mainframe technologies and Cloud Modernization. The ideal candidate will lead mainframe assessment, modernization, and migration initiatives, define target-state architectures, and provide strategic guidance for transforming legacy applications into modern cloud-native solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Assess IBM Mainframe applications, databases, and infrastructure to develop modernization and cloud migration strategies.
Define target-state architecture and migration roadmaps for legacy application transformation.
Lead architecture assessments, application rationalization, and modernization initiatives.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate migration approaches, including rehosting, replatforming, refactoring, and rearchitecting.
Design end-to-end enterprise solutions encompassing application, integration, security, data, and infrastructure architecture.
Provide technical leadership for mainframe migration programs using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, delivery teams, and cloud architects to align solutions with business objectives.
Review and govern architectural standards, best practices, and technology decisions.
Support API enablement, microservices adoption, and containerization initiatives.
Define data migration strategies for DB2 and legacy data platforms.
Mentor development and architecture teams throughout modernization programs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have Skills
12+ years of overall IT experience.
10+ years of hands-on experience with:
COBOL
CICS
JCL
DB2
VSAM
Experience assessing mainframe applications and databases for cloud migration and modernization.
Strong understanding of mainframe migration methodologies and tooling.
Experience creating migration strategies, architecture blueprints, and modernization roadmaps.
Broad architecture knowledge across:
Front-End Architecture
Services Architecture
Integration & Middleware Architecture
Security Architecture
Data Architecture
Good-to-Have Skills
Experience with Rocket Enterprise Analyzer for re-platform portability assessments.
Experience designing and delivering solutions using Rocket Software (formerly Micro Focus).
Experience with:
Microservices
API-led Architecture
Containerization
5+ years of experience with SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
Experience migrating IBM DB2 z/OS workloads to modern relational databases.
Knowledge of:
Data Modeling
Data Architecture
Data Security
Integration Architecture
Experience implementing CDC (Change Data Capture) solutions and data replication frameworks.
Education
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.

TOGAF Certification
Mainframe Modernization Certifications
