What you will do
Johnson Controls is searching for a Senior Principal Electronics Engineer to be located at the R&D facility in Westford, MA. In this role you will be responsible for designing electronic analog & digital hardware for new fire alarm products as well as supporting existing product lines. Work may include embedded system designs, small signal and instrumentation circuitry, switch mode power supplies, front panel user interfaces, audio amplifiers, peer-to-peer networking, linear power supplies, sensors and detectors, and fiber optics. In addition, research new technology that can be used within these products. This position is located in Westford, MA, and you will be required to be onsite 3 days a week.
How you will do it
Work on analog and digital design and analysis, including embedded system design
Work with other organizations to conceive, develop, and release new products to production
Assume overall technical project management responsibility for developing approved hardware-based products as per negotiated product/market specifications, schedule, cost, and performance requirements.
Work in a team environment to generate creative solutions to product needs
Lead cross-functional teams of less senior engineers (typ. electrical & mechanical), being responsible for costing, scheduling, and meeting design requirements
Be able to think and operate at both a micro-level (e.g. hardware design, software design, packaging etc.) and a macro-level (e.g. system, interconnect strategies, etc.).
Help to continually optimize internal processes and procedures.
Work closely with Product Management to determine product specifications
Understand how to design equipment to meet agency certifications (UL, ULC, CE, FCC).
What you will need
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, advanced degree preferred
12 years of experience in electronics design related to analog, power, audio, or embedded products/systems
Discrete electronic component-level knowledge and experience
Experience with electronic CAD (schematic capture, circuit simulation).
Ability to work well with others in a team environment that spans multiple countries.
Experience transitioning products to manufacturing
Preferred
Power supply design, microprocessors and embedded system design
Small signal analog design
Experience/Skills
12 years’ related experience
Experience managing teams
Strong engineering expertise
Effective English communication skills, both oral and written
Requires superior organizational skills
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel
SALARY RANGE: $145,000 - $185,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
