JOB DESCRIPTION:
Mandatory Technical Skills
Strong hands-on administration of Commvault in a large enterprise environment, including CommCell architecture, CommServe, Media Agents, clients, Command Center/CommCell Console, libraries, plans and policies.
Expertise in storage policies, schedule policies, subclients, retention, job management, indexing, data paths, mount paths, deduplication, compression, encryption, and media management.
Experience protecting and recovering Windows, Linux/Unix, VMware, file systems, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and other enterprise workloads relevant to the environment.
Hands-on experience with disk, tape and cloud-based backup targets, tape libraries and drives, media handling, vaulting, auxiliary copies, DASH Copy and secondary-copy design.
Experience with CommServe disaster recovery, standby CommServe design, DR backups, recovery validation, failover planning, and restoration of critical Commvault components.
Strong troubleshooting across backup jobs, restores, services, logs, network paths, firewalls, SAN, storage, performance, databases, agents, libraries and infrastructure dependencies.
Experience with platform upgrades, patching, migrations, hardware refresh, storage migration, Media Agent movement, deduplication database protection and capacity planning.
Understanding of backup security, RBAC, credential management, encryption, immutability or protected-copy principles, malware/ransomware recovery readiness, and audit controls.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Commvault protection of Azure, AWS or other cloud workloads and cloud storage targets.
Knowledge of IntelliSnap or storage-array snapshot integration and application-consistent recovery.
Exposure to Commvault Metallic or Commvault Cloud capabilities.
Experience with monitoring, reporting, capacity analytics, ServiceNow integration, dashboards and automated compliance reporting.
Familiarity with large, globally distributed or regulated enterprise environments and formal recovery-governance requirements.
Leadership and Behavioral Competencies
Excellent analytical, diagnostic and structured problem-solving capability.
Ability to take ownership and make sound decisions during high-impact backup or recovery incidents.
Strong customer-facing communication, stakeholder coordination, risk articulation and expectation management.
Ability to lead technical discussions, mentor engineers and review operational work for quality and compliance.
Clear documentation, presentation and knowledge-sharing skills.
Proactive mindset focused on recoverability, prevention, simplification, automation and continuous improvement.
Ability to work in a 24x7 support environment and participate in rotational on-call or planned after-hours changes.
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
