Job Summary
Micron is seeking a strategic and visionary Principal University Recruiting Leader (P5) to lead the development and execution of our university recruiting strategy across Japan. This role is responsible for building sustainable pipelines of future talent that support Micron’s long-term workforce needs, including New College Graduates (NCGs), interns, vocational school talent, and emerging technical talent programs.
As a senior individual contributor and trusted advisor to business leaders, this role will define and implement talent acquisition strategies, influence workforce planning decisions, establish scalable recruiting programs, and build high-impact partnerships with universities and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will drive enterprise-level outcomes, leveraging market intelligence, AI-enabled recruiting practices, and data-driven decision-making to deliver world-class talent at speed and scale.
Key ResponsibilitiesUniversity Recruiting Strategy
Develop and execute Micron Japan’s university recruiting strategy aligned to long-term workforce planning and business growth.
Create sustainable talent pipelines for engineering, manufacturing, technology, and corporate functions.
Lead annual hiring plans for NCGs, internships, and early career talent programs.
Continuously evaluate market trends, talent availability, competitive activity, and workforce risks to shape future hiring strategies.
Workforce Ready Ecosystem
Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with universities, technical colleges, vocational schools, government institutions, and industry associations.
Drive Workforce Ready Council initiatives and collaborative talent development programs.
Expand early engagement strategies to increase brand awareness and candidate conversion rates.
Build differentiated talent attraction programs that strengthen Micron’s employer brand.
Program Leadership
Own the end-to-end governance of university recruiting and internship programs.
Ensure consistent candidate experience from attraction through onboarding.
Design scalable recruiting mechanisms and operating models that improve efficiency, hiring quality, and candidate engagement.
Lead cross-functional projects supporting workforce readiness, talent development, and future workforce planning.
Stakeholder Influence
Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders regarding talent trends, hiring forecasts, talent risks, and workforce capability planning.
Influence business decisions using talent intelligence and market insights.
Partner closely with HR, business leaders, hiring managers, operations, communications, and external partners to deliver recruiting success.
Talent Intelligence & Analytics
Establish reporting frameworks and KPIs for university recruiting success.
Leverage recruiting analytics to improve pipeline health, hiring quality, offer acceptance, conversion rates, diversity outcomes, and retention.
Use talent intelligence and competitive benchmarking to guide recruiting investments and strategy.
AI & Innovation
Champion AI-enabled recruiting practices and automation initiatives.
Lead adoption of innovative sourcing, engagement, and assessment methodologies.
Contribute to governance and best practices for responsible AI use within Talent Acquisition.
Create scalable recruiting processes that improve productivity while enhancing candidate experience.
Capability Building
Mentor recruiters and recruiting leaders across the region.
Share best practices and drive capability development in university recruiting.
Build recruiting playbooks, frameworks, and standards that can be leveraged across geographies.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
10+ years of Talent Acquisition experience.
5+ years leading university recruiting, campus programs, workforce planning, or strategic talent initiatives.
Demonstrated experience building and scaling graduate hiring and internship programs.
Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
Experience using recruiting analytics and market intelligence to drive decision making.
Proven project and program management experience across multiple stakeholders and business groups.
Ability to influence without direct authority in a matrixed global environment.
Business-level English and Japanese communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Semiconductor, technology, manufacturing, engineering, or high-growth industry recruiting experience.
Experience driving workforce ready, talent pipeline, or industry-academia partnership initiatives.
Knowledge of AI-enabled recruiting tools and talent intelligence platforms.
Experience hiring internationally and managing diverse talent pipelines.
Demonstrated success building scalable recruiting mechanisms with measurable business impact.
