Job Description
Database Engineer
We are looking for Mongo DBA along with Oracle and PostgreSQL knowledge, to be part of our Database Operations team that works 24x7x365 to ensure our critical systems are up and serving our customers round the clock. The candidate should have a strong mindset to look at the bigger picture, think over and beyond, suggest steps to gain greater control over complex systems.
In this role, The MongoDB DBA will be responsible for the administration, performance, and security of our MongoDB environments. This role ensures database reliability, scalability, and compliance while supporting application teams with schema design, query optimization, and operational excellence. The DBA will play a key role in maintaining high availability and disaster recovery readiness across mission-critical systems.
Job Qualifications:
o Database Administration: Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain MongoDB database environments. Administer MongoDB clusters across development, test, staging, and production environments. Manage MongoDB Replica Sets and highly available database architectures. Configure and manage MongoDB Sharded Clusters for large-scale workloads. Manage database users, roles, authentication, authorization, and access controls. Perform database health checks and proactively identify operational risks. Manage database configuration, storage, capacity, and lifecycle activities. Maintain database standards, operational procedures, and technical documentation
o High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Design and support highly available MongoDB architectures. Configure and administer Replica Sets across multiple Availability Zones/data centers. Monitor replication health, replication lag, elections, rollbacks, and oplog utilization. Design and maintain MongoDB disaster recovery solutions. Define and implement appropriate RPO and RTO requirements. Conduct regular failover, recovery, and disaster recovery exercises. Troubleshoot replication failures and node synchronization issues. Ensure production environments meet agreed availability and resilience SLAs.
o Performance Optimization: Monitor query performance, tune indexes, and optimize schema design for efficiency.
o High Availability & DR: Implement backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and ensure RTO/RPO compliance. Design and implement enterprise MongoDB backup strategies and manage logical, physical, and snapshot-based backup solutions as appropriate.
o Security Management: Manage authentication, authorization, encryption, and compliance with data security standards.
o Monitoring & Automation: Use tools like Ops Manager, Cloud Manager, or third-party monitoring solutions to automate alerts and reporting.
o Capacity Planning: Forecast storage, compute, and scaling needs to support business growth.
o Incident Management: Troubleshoot database issues, resolve outages, and provide root cause analysis.
o Index and Schema Management: Design indexes based on application query patterns and workload characteristics. Identify unused, redundant, or inefficient indexes. Review index utilization and storage overhead. Optimize MongoDB document models and schema designs in collaboration with application teams. Analyze collection and index growth.
o MongoDB Integrity and Data Reliability: Implement MongoDB database integrity and health-check processes.Use collection validation and MongoDB diagnostic capabilities where appropriate. Monitor WiredTiger storage engine health and database logs. Investigate corruption, checksum, storage, and I/O-related errors.
Experience in database upgrade/migrate, patching, backup recovery of large databases.
Plan and implement major upgrades, ensuring system integrity and monitoring
Analyze, solve, and prepare RCA for production outages.
Provide cost/time estimates, capacity planning of database environments.
Institute process for continuous improvement, perform other related duties as assigned.
Assist on critical production issues, identify root cause and provide mitigation plan.
Work with various product/application teams across the company
Understand the product architecture and prepare Service Improvement for efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum years of rich experience on multiple database technologies primarily MongoDB, Oracle and Postgres.
Strong knowledge of replication, sharding, indexing, and schema design.
Familiarity with monitoring tools (New Relic, CloudWatch, Ops Manager).
Experience in implementing and managing database clustering and HA/DR systems.
o Ability to diagnose problems and triage/resolve issues across various tiers (application, network, database, server, or storage tiers).
o Experience in database upgrade/migrate, patching, backup recovery of large databases.
Ability to develop SQL and PL/SQL scripts and Strong Automation mindset/experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Positive attitude and strong commitment to delivering quality work, Ability to multitask under pressure, prioritize work based on criticality.
Should be flexible and open to work in 24x7 environment in any shifts, willing to work on holidays, over weekends as per the demand from Project.

Problem Solver: Configures, administers and manages core monitoring infrastructure to support the tools (custom or vended), including new releases, upgrades, patch, and vulnerability management. Champions on core observability principles delivery solutions based on effective Application Performance Monitoring, Infrastructure or Platform Monitoring, Real User Monitoring, Synthetics Monitoring, Mobile Monitoring, Network Monitoring and SaaS / Cloud Monitoring.
Automation and Governance: Administers IT Runbook system to ensure all processes are properly documented and adhered to published standards. Enforces compliance requirements for documentation’s data integrity, accuracy, and completeness. Helps automate, streamline or rectify workflows required for onboarding or instrumentation of applications, infrastructure, databases, and other middleware tiers to monitoring products.
Site Reliability Mindset: Participates in root cause analysis exercise and builds post-mortem documents of the critical problems. Identifies opportunities, design and build automated tools that help reduce efforts and saves cost on repeatable tasks for cross-platform products.
