About the Role
Join us as Associate Director, Investment Risk at AIA Investment Management!
The Investment Analysis & Control function is responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting current, emerging, and potential market, credit, liquidity, and environmental risks across all portfolios and funds managed and/or advised by AIAIM.
This Associate Director role is responsible for providing independent oversight, analysis, and reporting of investment performance and risks across AIAIM-managed and advised portfolios. The incumbent will lead the risk oversight of the Private Assets portfolio or Derivatives portfolio, including risk monitoring, performance analysis, valuation oversight, and risk reporting, while providing effective challenge and insight to investment teams. The role will also contribute to the enhancement of risk frameworks, methodologies, and governance practices to ensure investment activities remain aligned with AIAIM's risk appetite and governance standards.
Responsibilities
Provide an independent analysis and management of Investment Risks (Market Risk, Credit and Counterparty Risk, Liquidity Risk, Environmental Risk) for the AIAIM investment activities
Conduct risk-return analyses on portfolios and funds managed and/or advised by AIAIM and overseeing risk-taking activities in line with risk budgets and KPIs/KRIs
Lead the independent oversight of Derivatives or Private Assets risk management activities
Own deep-dive reviews, thematic risk assessments and portfolio risk challenge processes
Represent the Investment Analysis & Control function in governance meetings and senior stakeholder discussions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines
Drive enhancements to investment risk methodologies, thresholds, KPIs/KRIs and governance framework
Provide subject matter expertise for complex investments, new products and Derivatives or Private Asset transactions
Analyse Investment Risks for new products/instruments and provide assessments to the Product Approval Committee
Mentor junior risk professionals and provide technical guidance
Requirements
Candidates will preferably hold an MSc degree in a technical discipline (Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics) and possess good analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills. CFA/FRM certifications are a plus
Minimum 12 years of proven Multi-Asset portfolio risk, performance and attribution experience. Direct experience with one of more Private Assets (i.e. Private Equity, Venture Capital, Real Estate, Private Credit) or Derivatives
Working knowledge of the relevant regulatory environment and related requirements. Working knowledge of widely used risk and performance systems, BRS Aladdin and Bloomberg will be viewed favourably.
Hands on programming experience in Python/R together with the libraries commonly used for data manipulation (e.g., Pandas in Python, Tydiverse packages in R), with statistical analysis/data science is a plus. Hands on experience with databases will be an advantage.
Excellent communication and presentation skills to translate complex risk information to diverse audiences
