Akamai's Infrastructure Engineering & Operations organization builds and maintains Akamai's Platform - one of the world's largest distributed platforms. Our Server Hardware Engineering team is responsible for designing, qualifying, and testing servers destined for our growing network.

As a Hardware Engineer, you will develop, validate, manage lifecycles, and document Akamai's Server Hardware Platforms for a growing network. Collaborating with vendors, you will evaluate pre-release hardware and provide input on future product designs. Join a team designing servers and developing firmware for a platform with over 300,000 servers across 130 countries.
As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Defining and review architecture for next-generation platforms.
Leading design reviews across electrical, mechanical, and firmware domains.
Negotiating requirements and trade-offs with product and business team
Anticipating system-level challenges (thermal, signal integrity, compliance) and propose solutions.
Overseeing multi-vendor engagements and align with roadmap goals.
Managing hardware failure escalations and coordinate resolutions with OEM/ODM suppliers for deployed systems
Driving post-deployment analysis and feedback loops into design.
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
Hold a Bachelor's in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
have experience across the full hardware development lifecycle, including pre-production sample evaluation, mass-production validation, and leading comprehensive validation strategies.
Demonstrate expertise with server hardware componentsDisk, RAM, NIC, GPUand their protocols (Comptia Server+level proficiency).
Demonstrate expertise operating lab equipmentsuch as oscilloscopes, thermal chambers, and networking devicesand conducting comprehensive diagnostic and investigative analysis.
Develop advanced test frameworks and embedded software while supporting hardwaresoftware integration with over three programming experience in Python.
Demonstrate expertise with Linux operating systems while understanding core principles of reliability engineering.
Demonstrate expertise in shaping business outcomes through effective technical strategy, with the ability to present and engage with stakeholders effectively.
