Description
Are you passionate about solving complex financial automation challenges at scale? Amazon's Transportation Financial Systems (TFS) team is seeking a Programmer/Analyst II to help revolutionize how we manage financial operations across our global transportation network. In this role, you'll build critical automation solutions that streamline migrations, generate actionable metrics, and enable seamless financial book closures for one of the world's most sophisticated logistics operations.
You'll work at the intersection of software development and financial systems, creating tools and mechanisms that address real customer challenges. Your solutions will empower teams across transportation finance to work more efficiently, make data-driven decisions faster, and adopt new features with confidence. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on systems that process financial data at Amazon's scale while growing your technical expertise in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key job responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement well-organized, maintainable code using optimal data structures and algorithms, ensuring solutions are correct, scalable, and customer-focused.
Troubleshoot and resolve system and software issues by diagnosing root causes, assessing urgency, and mitigating impact while applying available tools and resources effectively.
Collaborate across teams to define requirements, negotiate priorities, and deliver technical solutions that meet business needs — regularly making trade-offs between time, quality, and resources.
Identify and optimize operational procedures and best practices, contributing to the long-term reliability and performance of systems and services your team owns.
Evaluate when and how to integrate generative artificial intelligence tools into workflows, refining outputs and applying responsible practices to improve productivity and solution quality.
A day in the life
You will start your day reviewing code changes and participating in technical discussions with your team. From there, you might spend time writing and testing new features, debugging a production issue, or pairing with a teammate on a design review. You will regularly communicate progress and risks to stakeholders, ask productive questions to clarify requirements, and document your work clearly. Expect to mentor teammates, contribute to peer code reviews, and propose improvements to how your team builds and operates its systems.
