Data Center Technician

Minimum qualifications:
Experience with Linux Administration.
Experience with network infrastructure.
Experience in hardware and operating systems.
Experience in technical support operations, network diagnostics, and project management.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware and server hardware.
Experience with networking protocols, Linux, teamwork and operations.
Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, holidays and on shift-based schedules.
About The Job
Google isn't just a software company. The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology. As an Operations Technician, you'll install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (like servers and its components) and server software (like Google's Linux cluster). You'll also address the configuration of more complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols. You'll participate in or lead small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans. A typical day involves manual movement and installation of racks, and while it can sometimes be physically demanding, you are excited to work with infrastructure that is at the cutting-edge of computer technology.
You install, configure, test and troubleshoot hardware (servers and components) and server software. You also manually move and install racks and servers.
The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are an upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers.
Responsibilities
Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects or teams (e.g. Machine Learning platforms, network architecture).
Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose moderately complex issues with equipment or infrastructure as they arise, and identify the resources needed to resolve identified issues.
Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, and infrastructure based on identified issues with multiple solutions, independently.
Independently execute advanced operational procedures as part of daily work activities and follow security policies and processes.
Work in shifts may be required to meet evolving business needs and operational schedules.
