Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures and algorithms.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
3 years of experience with Android full-stack development.
Preferred qualifications:
5 years of experience in Android application development (Kotlin/Java) with proficiency in building scalable backend services/APIs.
Experience with API design, mobile-backend agreements, client-server architecture, and optimizing Android performance/latency in large-scale applications.
Proven experience using, or strong enthusiasm for onboarding to, agentic AI coding frameworks, LLM-assisted coding, and modern automated workflows to accelerate software development.
Familiarity with subscription-based platforms, cloud storage/management tools, or integrating services within the OEM/partner ecosystem.

We build innovative, end-to-end tools that help users easily monitor and optimize their cloud storage quota. One of our most critical surfaces is the Storage Management UI (SMUI), positioning us at the vital integration point between Google One, Google Photos, and the global Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) ecosystem. As an Engineer on this team, you will drive technical strategy throughout the user storage lifecycle building globally scaled features that help millions of users monitor, optimize, and secure their digital memories and legacies across devices.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
Responsibilities
Act as a technical lead driving the design, architecture, and end-to-end deployment of globally scalable storage features spanning both Android clients (primary) and backend services.
Collaborate cross-functionally and with other Google teams to launch impactful products at the intersection of Google One, Google Photos, and the OEM ecosystem.
Embrace and accelerate development using agentic AI coding capabilities. Utilize agentic workflows to maximize engineering velocity, code quality, and system reliability, onboard and advocate these modern practices.
Identify, debug, and resolve complex full-stack issues to continuously improve our product experience, system health, and overall efficiency.
Maintain and advocate high standards for Android development and backend integration, mentoring junior engineers and actively contributing to Google’s evolving technical standards.
