About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

Strategy & Operations Associate
San Francisco, CA: Financial District. In-Person (M-F)
We are very excited to be hiring our first Strategy & Operations (BizOps) Associate. You'll go wherever the operation is breaking, scope the problem, build the fix, and hand it off. And you'll do it AI-natively — we expect the person in this seat to replace manual work with agents and internal tooling rather than absorb it as headcount. How we run ourselves internally should look like the product we sell: it's part of our advantage, not back-office overhead.
Finance operations and reporting are the anchor — the numbers, the close, the board deck, the dashboard everyone actually looks at — but the role doesn't stop at Finance. You'll sit at the center of the company, supporting both sides of the org: GTM (sales, marketing, product, customer success) and Engineering & Design. You'll work directly with the founders and every function lead here. Most of what you'll own doesn't exist yet — you'll be the one who builds it.
No two weeks look the same, and that's the point. You'll report to the Chief of Staff and rotate across finance operations, GTM reporting, and eng/design operations — owning real work in each, not observing. The scope is wide because the company moves fast and the problems don't respect org charts. This role is for someone genuinely comfortable with ambiguity - scopes shifts week to week.
Why FurtherAI?
- Elite Team & Culture: Join a YC and a16z-backed startup, collaborating with industry experts who share your hunger and ambition. Be part of a culture built for high performers who are proud to put in the work.
- Transformative Opportunity: Sell pioneering AI solutions in complex, regulated industries and help modernize a trillion-dollar sector.
- Leadership Growth: Leverage your experience to shape our sales process and grow into a senior leadership role as the company scales.
- Highly Competitive Compensation: Strong base salary, top-tier commission plan, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
What You'll Do
- Put AI to work inside FurtherAI. Find the work people are doing that AI should be doing instead. Build AI workflows and internal tooling that eliminate manual steps across finance and ops, and become the person the team comes to for what's worth automating and how.
- Support FinOps and cost discipline. Track infrastructure and vendor costs, pull the analysis that shows where the money is going, flag what looks off, and support the work to bring it down.
- Build the reporting the company runs on. Create and maintain the KPI dashboards, board materials, and recurring reports leadership actually uses to make decisions — revenue, pipeline, burn, headcount, and beyond.
- Support GTM. Partner with Sales, Marketing, Product and Customer Success on pipeline hygiene, forecasting, and the data and materials they need to hit the number.
- Support Engineering & Design. Partner with Engineering and Design on headcount and hiring plans, tooling, and the operational rhythm that keeps a fast-moving product org organized.
- Run cross-functional projects end to end. Pricing analyses, market sizing, competitive research, fundraising prep, or whatever ambiguous work doesn't belong to any one team — you scope it, run it, and land it, working with the COO/Chief of Staff to prioritize what matters most this week.
- Own the mechanics of money moving in and out. Vendor onboarding and payments, customer invoicing, billing accuracy, collections follow-up, and expense workflows, plus the monthly close, cash tracking, and budget-vs-actuals. Turn what lives in someone's inbox into a process that runs on its own.
Who You Are
- You've been the best at something — top of your class, captain of the team, first in your cohort — and you're looking for the next thing to pour that into.
- At every past job you ended up doing more than your title said.
- You have a builder's instinct for process — when something breaks twice, you redesign it; when a task eats four hours every week, you make it run itself.
- You're as comfortable in a spreadsheet or financial model as you are in a room with Sales or Engineering.
- You get energy from moving fast across many problems, not sitting in one lane.
- You'd rather own a messy problem end-to-end than execute a clean task someone handed you.
- You context-switch without losing intensity, and you care about outcomes over job descriptions.
Requirements
- 2–4+ years in a high-paced environment - MBB, Investment Banking, or similar required.
- Genuinely AI-native — you already use LLMs and agents as leverage in your own work and have built things with them, not just used a chatbot to draft an email.
- Strong financial and analytical skills — comfortable building and stress-testing a model, not just reading one, and pulling your own numbers without waiting on someone else.
- Extremely high attention to detail — this role touches money moving in and out of the company, and small errors are expensive.
- Strong written and verbal communication across Finance, GTM, and Engineering — you can write a crisp update, chase an overdue invoice professionally, and explain a process to someone with no context.
- Bias toward action; based in San Francisco or willing to relocate immediately.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in Insurtech, Fintech, etc, or B2B SaaS at a high-growth technology company.
- Hands-on experience with financial systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Ramp, Rippling, or similar) and BI/reporting or internal-tooling platforms (Looker, Retool, Sigma, Zapier, or similar).
- Prior startup or founder experience.
- Exposure to sales/GTM operations and/or engineering program management.
You can look forward to the following benefits:
- Fully covered, best-in-class health, dental, and vision benefits
- Competitive Compensation, meaningful stock options, company 401(k)
- Unlimited PTO
- Outstanding in-office culture in the heart of San Francisco
- Lunch and dinner onsite
- Team events, such as happy hours and off-sites
- Commuter benefits
