The FMEA Engineer leads FMEA activities for prismatic battery cell design from concept through validation, identifying potential electrical, mechanical, thermal, chemical, and safety-related failure modes.
The role evaluates and prioritizes risks, defines preventive and detection controls, and drives effective mitigation actions in collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring robust, reliable, and safe cell design while incorporating design validation results, lessons learned, and customer requirements into the FMEA.
This role reports to the Lead - Cell Validation.
Role & responsibilities
1. FMEA Development & Maintenance
FMEA Ownership: Develop and maintain FMEA for prismatic cell design, strengthening process controls and defining process capability requirements.
Failure Mode Identification: Identify electrical, mechanical, thermal, chemical, and safety-related failure modes across the cell design lifecycle.
Continuous Update: Incorporate design validation results, lessons learned, and customer requirements into the FMEA on an ongoing basis.
2. Risk Assessment & Mitigation
Risk Evaluation: Evaluate and prioritize risks based on severity, occurrence, and detectability.
Control Definition: Define preventive and detection controls to mitigate identified failure modes.
Mitigation Tracking: Drive effective mitigation actions in collaboration with cross-functional teams, tracking actions to closure.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate with Cell Design, R&D, Testing, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supplier teams to align FMEA outputs with design and process requirements.
Validation Support: Support validation activities, root-cause analysis, and design improvement initiatives arising from FMEA findings.
Preferred candidate profile
Qualifications:
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline; FMEA certification is preferred.
Location:
Based out of Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in FMEA preferably AIAG-VDA, battery cell development, or product engineering.
Experience with commercial FMEA software and PLM platforms.
Experience with prismatic Li-ion cells and battery safety is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of FMEA methodology and risk assessment techniques.
Understanding of prismatic cell design and associated failure mechanisms.
Good analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
Ability to drive mitigation actions to closure across multiple stakeholder teams
