​Kick‑Start Your Career in Financial Risk at ING
Are you curious about how customer behaviour shapes a bank’s balance sheet? Do you enjoy analytical work and want to learn how risk, modelling, treasury, and commercial strategy come together in a global bank?
This internship places you at the heart of ING’s Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) and Asset & Liability Management (ALM) activities. You will support a global team that develops and analyses behavioural models for products such as mortgages and savings accounts—impacting how ING manages interest rate and liquidity risks for more than 40 million customers worldwide.
You will work in an international environment, collaborating with colleagues across Europe, Asia, and Australia, and gaining hands‑on exposure to financial risk management in practice.
What You Will Learn & Do
Support ING’s global behavioural risk and ALM landscape
Assist in analysing customer behaviour for savings, mortgages, and other retail products.
Help monitor and maintain behavioural and replication models used across ING countries.
Contribute to aligning methodologies across markets and documenting key insights.
Support assessments of local model deviations and risk appetite implications.
Collaborate with global stakeholders
Work with model development teams, Model Validation, Group Treasury, and local risk teams.
Contribute to preparing materials for discussions with stakeholders across the globe.
Translate analytical results into clear and concise summaries.
Participate in high‑impact risk analysis
Support periodic behavioural reviews of assets and liabilities.
Help prepare ALM & IRRBB deep‑dive analyses for senior management.
Contribute to strengthening governance and documentation within the team.

Who We’re Looking For
A motivated student who wants to learn, contribute, and grow.
Your background
You are currently studying economics, econometrics, mathematics, physics, data science, or related fields.
Interest in financial risk, modelling, treasury or banking.
Experience with Python, data analysis, or visualization tools is a plus.
Your strengths
You are curious and proactive in asking questions.
You enjoy analytical work and problem‑solving.
You can communicate complex ideas in a simple way.
You enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
