About Florance
Florance is a new premium mattress brand being launched by Florance Tradexim LLP — part of a 47-year-old foam manufacturing group headquartered in Bareilly, UP with six production units, five lakh square feet of manufacturing space, and 5,000+ dealers across India. We are building Florance as a premium-to-luxury sleep brand from scratch and are looking for a Product Development Manager to lead the development of our mattress range.
The Role
The Product Development Manager will own the complete product development function for Florance — from concept to production-ready specification. You will work directly with the founder and be responsible for defining, developing, and refining the mattress product range across all tiers. This role sits at the intersection of foam technology, spring engineering, fabric selection, and market positioning.
What You Will Be Responsible For
Product Development
— Lead end-to-end development of new mattress products from concept to production-ready specification
— Define internal layer structures — foam compositions, spring systems, latex components — for each product
— Specify foam densities, ILD ratings, thicknesses, and material combinations per product
— Develop and refine product construction for all 7 current products and future additions
— Ensure each product delivers the intended feel, firmness, and performance at the specified price point
— Conduct physical testing and quality evaluation of prototypes before sign-off
Material & Vendor Management
— Identify, evaluate, and qualify foam, spring, latex, and fabric vendors — domestic and international
— Negotiate material pricing, lead times, and minimum order quantities with suppliers
— Evaluate materials sourced from China, Kerala, and other markets for quality and cost fitness
— Maintain a materials library with specifications, performance data, and vendor contacts
— Stay current on new foam technologies, spring systems, and sleep materials globally
Quality & Compliance
— Define quality standards per product and ensure production meets specifications consistently
— Develop product testing protocols — firmness, durability, material performance
— Ensure all products meet relevant Indian and international compliance standards
Market & Competitor Analysis
— Study competitor products — Indian and international brands — at all price points
— Identify gaps in the current Indian mattress market that Florance products can occupy
— Translate market insights into product development decisions
— Monitor emerging sleep technology trends — cooling foams, micro springs, hybrid constructions
Documentation & Communication
— Maintain complete product specification sheets for all products
— Coordinate with design, marketing, and sales teams to ensure product story aligns with construction
— Prepare technical briefs for designers, vendors, and manufacturing teams
What We Are Looking For
Essential
— 3 to 7 years of experience in mattress, foam, or sleep product development
— Deep understanding of foam types — HR foam, memory foam, bonded foam, latex
— Knowledge of pocket spring, bonnell spring, and micro pocket spring construction
— Hands-on experience defining product specifications and working with manufacturing teams
— Strong vendor management and negotiation capability
— Based in or willing to relocate to Bareilly, UP
