Purpose
Responsible for the development and maintenance of software solutions for new and existing projects. Deep technical skills are required, along with an ability to understand how all pieces fit together and are validated in a complex, distributed system. Configuration, and maintenance of solutions within the Allscripts Practice Management (PM) platform. The role requires deep expertise in Allscripts PM database architecture, stored procedures, and application functionality, combined with strong knowledge of revenue cycle management (RCM) billing workflows.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle
Perform in-depth analysis of database tables and schemas to support reporting, and integrations enhancements.
Design and implement custom reports and data extracts to support operations and management decision-making.
Build and maintain integrations between internal and external systems including clearinghouses, payers, and EHRs. Document technical solutions, data mappings, and process flows to maintain a reliable knowledge base.
Leverage AI development tools for rapid development and productivity acceleration
Actively participates hand on in product development
Develop prototypes to prove the solutions business value to the Product Requirements
Respond to stakeholder requirements from a requirements & technology standpoint and discuss concepts, solutions, technical feasibility & risks with them
Participate in knowledge-sharing code reviews

Education (Degrees, Certificates, Licenses, Etc.) Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, health informatics, or a related field — or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Experience
10+ years of hands-on experience in software development and with Allscripts Practice Management
Proven experience working with the system database.
Demonstrated experience supporting RCM billing processes.
Experience working with EDI transaction sets and clearinghouse connectivity within Allscripts PM.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, ideally within healthcare technology or a revenue cycle services organization.
Experience with Agile development.
Required skills and knowledge
Advanced coding skills in C# ASP.Net, .Net Core, React, Node JS, SQL , Rest API
Integrated development with usage of AI Tools such as GitHub Copilot/Claude Code/Codex
Deep proficiency with the AS PM schema.
Solid functional knowledge of all core AS PM modules: scheduling, patient registration, charge entry, claims management, payment posting, and denial management.
Strong understanding of RCM billing workflows, payer contract management, eligibility verification, and remittance processing.
Ability to read, analyze, and work directly with Allscripts PM system tables, transaction logs, and configuration data.
Experience building or supporting integrations between Allscripts PM and external systems (clearinghouses, payers, EHRs).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently diagnose complex data and application issues.
Ability to guide and mentor junior team members
Applied use of GenAI, Agentic AI, ML Algorithms
Good to have technical skills
Experience with AS PM APIs or HL7/FHIR integrations.
Familiarity with AS Enterprise EHR and its integration points with Practice Management.
Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for data migration or ETL workflows.
Exposure to scripting or automation tools for batch billing or eligibility processing.
NoSQL DB, Databricks, PySpark / Scala/ Spark SQL, Terraform
Preferred skills and knowledge
Ability to solve problems quickly and completely with minimal supervision.
Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic, fast-paced billing environment.
Working knowledge of RCM performance metrics such as denial rate, days in AR, first-pass rate, and clean claim rate.
Knowledge of CMS billing guidelines, payer-specific requirements, and compliance considerations relevant to practice management systems.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with both technical teams and non-technical billing stakeholders.
Positive attitude with the ability to think outside the box when standard approaches fall short.
