Role Description Community Volunteers support GWIN’s mission by helping gig workers access information, resources, and community networks. In this volunteer, remote role, volunteers may assist in onboarding new members, explaining GWIN’s services, and guiding workers to relevant support channels and digital tools. They may help collect feedback from gig workers, document challenges they face, and share insights with the core team to improve programs and resources. Volunteers can contribute to online outreach, such as engaging on social platforms, responding to queries, and sharing verified information and updates with local gig worker communities. Depending on interest and experience, volunteers may also support digital events, awareness campaigns, and coordination with city-level worker networks.
Qualifications
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with diverse worker communities.
Comfort with digital tools and online platforms, including messaging apps, social media, and basic productivity software.
Ability to collect, organize, and relay information clearly, including documenting worker feedback and issues.
Interest in labor rights, worker welfare, social impact initiatives, or community organizing.
Self-motivated and reliable, with the ability to manage time and tasks in a remote volunteer setting.
Proficiency in English and at least one Indian language is highly beneficial.
Familiarity with gig and platform work in India, either through lived experience or prior work with similar communities, is a plus.
Open to training, collaboration, and adherence to GWIN’s values of unity, dignity, safety, and rights.
