Role Description The Senior General Manager is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Uttar Pradesh, India, responsible for overseeing end-to-end operations of one or more manufacturing units or business verticals. This role includes planning and monitoring production activities, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, and optimizing resource utilization and cost efficiency. The Senior General Manager will lead and mentor cross-functional teams, drive performance management, and coordinate closely with departments such as finance, procurement, maintenance, and human resources. Day-to-day responsibilities also involve reviewing operational data and reports, identifying process improvements, implementing best practices, and supporting strategic projects aligned with organizational goals. The role requires regular interaction with senior leadership, external stakeholders, and local authorities to maintain smooth operations and support sustainable business growth.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in large-scale manufacturing or process industry operations management, preferably in sugar, agro-based, or related sectors.
Strong leadership capabilities, including team management, performance monitoring, mentoring, and fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
Proficiency in operational planning, budgeting, cost control, and resource optimization, with a track record of improving efficiency and productivity.
Solid understanding of quality standards, regulatory compliance, and environmental, health, and safety (EHS) practices relevant to industrial operations.
Ability to analyze complex data, prepare clear reports, make evidence-based decisions, and implement structured process improvements.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for coordination with internal teams, senior leadership, vendors, and local communities.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management, or a related field; a postgraduate degree (MBA or equivalent) is an advantage.
Proven experience in an equivalent senior management role, handling multi-site or large-unit responsibilities within a dynamic, high-volume environment.
Comfort working on-site in Uttar Pradesh and willingness to be present at the facility as required for operational oversight.
