ABOUT SIDDHARTHA ENGINEERING & SALES
Siddhartha Engineering & Sales has been a trusted name in India's Exploration & Production (E&P) and refining sector for over 35 years (since 1987), ranked among the most respected engineering solutions providers to the oil & gas industry. The company represents a portfolio of over 5,000 products from leading global OEM principals, and has delivered 100+ industry upgrades to over 1,000 customers across India, spanning engine and compressor maintenance services, lubrication system upgrades, valve technology, and machinery condition monitoring solutions.
The company's principal partnerships include Atlas Copco (StraightFlo reciprocating compressor valves), Continental Controls Corporation (gas turbine and engine fuel control systems), CPI Lubrication Group (compressor lubrication systems), Altronic (engine ignition & control systems), Industrial Valves, Klengas Tech, and US Energy Corp — giving the sales team a technically differentiated, OEM-backed product portfolio to offer India's refining and E&P sector.
Role Description We are looking for an experienced, self-driven Business Development Manager to lead sales growth in the PSU oil refinery segment — with primary focus on IOCL, HPCL, BPCL and other national/private sector refineries. The BDM will be responsible for building and managing key account relationships within refinery procurement, maintenance, and engineering functions; driving order booking across our specialised valve, condition-monitoring, and lubrication product lines; and representing Siddhartha Engineering & Sales as the trusted technical-commercial interface between our OEM principals and India's refining sector.
This is a high-visibility, high-reward role for someone who thrives on relationship-led, technically consultative selling, is comfortable navigating PSU vendor registration and tendering processes, and is willing to travel extensively to be present where the business is.The role involves preparing proposals, negotiating commercial terms, and coordinating closely with internal teams for pricing, logistics, and after-sales support. The Business Development Manager will also monitor market trends, competitor activities, and sales performance, and provide regular reports and forecasts to leadership.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
❯ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Instrumentation/ Petrochemical, or a related engineering discipline; MBA/PGDM in Sales & Marketing is an added advantage.
❯ 8–15 years of B2B technical/industrial sales experience, with a demonstrable track record of selling into PSU oil refineries or the broader oil & gas / petrochemical sector.
❯ Existing relationships and working familiarity with IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, or similar PSU procurement and engineering ecosystems will be strongly preferred.
❯ Working knowledge of PSU tendering, vendor registration, and public-sector procurement processes (GeM, e-tenders, pre-qualification norms).
❯ Technical familiarity with rotating/reciprocating machinery, compressor valves, lubrication systems, or condition-monitoring instrumentation is highly desirable.
❯ Willingness and ability to travel extensively (15–20 days a month) across India.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
❯ Consultative, relationship-led selling with strong stakeholder management across technical and commercial functions.
❯ Strong negotiation and commercial acumen; comfort with long, multi-stakeholder PSU sales cycles.
❯ Clear communication skills in English and Hindi; a regional language relevant to refinery clusters is a plus.
❯ Self-motivated, target-driven, and comfortable operating independently while travelling extensively.
❯ Proficiency with MS Office and CRM/sales-tracking tools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development & Key Account Management
❯ Identify, develop, and manage business opportunities for the above product lines within IOCL, HPCL, BPCL and other target refineries.
❯ Build and maintain strong working relationships with procurement, maintenance, rotating equipment, and project engineering teams at refinery and corporate levels.
❯ Drive vendor registration, pre-qualification, and empanelment with PSU refineries and their corporate purchase departments.
❯ Own the full sales cycle — lead generation, technical presentations, tender participation (including GeM/e-tender platforms), commercial negotiation, and order closure.
Technical & Commercial Coordination
❯ Coordinate with OEM principals (Atlas Copco, Continental Controls, CPI, and others) to develop technically compliant, competitively priced proposals and bid documents.
❯ Support pre-bid meetings, technical clarifications, and post-order execution coordination between customers and principals.
❯ Track refinery turnaround (TAR/shutdown) schedules and maintenance budget cycles to time offerings and follow-ups effectively.
Market Intelligence & Reporting
❯ Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends, and emerging opportunities across the refinery MRO and capex landscape.
❯ Maintain an accurate sales pipeline/CRM, and provide regular forecasts, visit reports, and order-booking updates to management.
❯ Represent the company at relevant industry exhibitions, conferences, and OEM principal events.
FIELD-FIRST ROLE
