Role Description The Head of Engineering at Pragati Urja will lead the engineering function, overseeing the design, development, and delivery of technology and infrastructure solutions that support the company’s energy operations. This full-time role is based in Mumbai with a hybrid work arrangement, allowing a mix of on-site presence and work from home as business needs permit. Day-to-day responsibilities include setting engineering strategy, guiding architecture and technical standards, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to high quality. The Head of Engineering will manage and mentor engineering teams, collaborate with product, operations, and business stakeholders, and establish processes for planning, risk management, and performance tracking. The role also involves evaluating new technologies, improving system reliability and scalability, and ensuring compliance with relevant industry and safety standards.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Team Management and Team Leadership skills to build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering teams.
Candidates should possess solid Engineering Management experience to define technical direction, allocate resources, and oversee end-to-end delivery of engineering initiatives.
Candidates should possess robust Project Management capabilities to plan, prioritize, track progress, and manage risks across multiple concurrent projects.
Candidates should possess hands-on Software Development experience, with proficiency in modern development practices, code review, and quality assurance.
Extensive experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure, or related technology domains is highly beneficial.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-informed decisions and balance technical depth with business priorities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to align cross-functional teams and present complex concepts clearly.
Experience implementing engineering best practices such as agile methodologies, CI/CD, documentation standards, and performance monitoring.
