We are looking for a Woven Textile Designer to join our Design & Product Development team.
The role will focus on developing innovative, premium and commercially relevant woven fabrics for menswear, working across yarns, colours, weave structures, patterns, textures and finishes.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of woven textiles and a passion for creating fabrics that are both design-led and commercially successful.
Key Responsibilities
Develop new woven fabric qualities for seasonal menswear collections.
Design and develop checks, stripes, plains, dobby, herringbone, twills, oxford, chambray, slub and textured fabrics.
Develop new fabric constructions using different yarn counts, blends and weave structures.
Research international fashion and textile trends, colours, patterns and fabric directions.
Create seasonal colour palettes and fabric stories.
Work with yarn suppliers, weaving, processing and production teams to execute new developments.
Coordinate fabric development from concept → yarn → construction → weaving → finishing → final approval.
Develop new and innovative fabrics using cotton, viscose, linen, lyocell, bamboo, polyester and specialty yarns.
Work closely with Sales and Merchandising teams to understand customer and market requirements.
Develop fabrics according to target markets and price points.
Maintain an organised library of fabric developments, swatches, references and designs.
Participate in market visits, exhibitions and fabric sourcing trips for trend and product research.
What We're Looking For
2–6 years of experience in woven textile design / fabric development / menswear textiles.
Degree or diploma in Textile Design, Textile Technology, Fashion & Textile Design or a related field.
Strong understanding of woven fabric construction and yarns.
Good knowledge of menswear shirting fabrics.
Strong understanding of colour, pattern, texture and fabric aesthetics.
Ability to develop commercially viable checks, stripes and woven structures.
Strong creative and analytical thinking.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work closely with technical and production teams.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple developments.
Software Skills
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Photoshop
Textile / CAD design software
Excel / Google Sheets
Knowledge of weave-design software will be an advantage.
What You Will Do
You will be responsible for taking an idea from inspiration to an actual production-ready fabric.
We are looking for someone who is curious about yarns, weaving, colour, texture and finishing, and wants to create fabrics that are distinctive, innovative and commercially successful.
