Role Description The Shift Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Sypp Coffee in Bengaluru, responsible for overseeing daily café operations during assigned shifts. This role includes supervising front-of-house and barista teams, coordinating staff schedules, and ensuring consistent, high-quality service to all guests. The Shift Manager monitors order flow, manages queue times, and supports the team in delivering accurate, well-presented food and beverages. Key responsibilities include handling guest inquiries and feedback, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, overseeing cash handling and basic reporting, and ensuring that inventory and supplies are adequately stocked throughout the shift. The person in this role acts as a point of contact for operational issues, helps onboard and train new team members, and supports the overall guest experience in line with Sypp Coffee’s community-focused values.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in café, restaurant, or retail supervision, with the ability to manage shifts, delegate tasks, and support a frontline team.
Strong customer service and hospitality skills, with a focus on creating a welcoming, inclusive, and community-oriented environment.
Basic operational and administrative skills, including cash handling, POS system use, inventory checks, and end-of-shift reporting.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members and address guest concerns calmly and professionally.
Ability to work on-site in Bengaluru, including weekends and peak hours, and remain organized in a fast-paced setting.
Experience in specialty coffee or food and beverage service is an advantage; prior leadership or shift lead experience is highly desirable.
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in hospitality or management is a plus.
