Preliminary Design & Estimation Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Preliminary Design & Estimation Engineer to support the Pre-Construction team of a US-based solar company. The role will focus on preliminary system design, modeling, quantity takeoffs, BOM/BOQ development, and project estimation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop preliminary / 30% solar plan sets for US C&I projects.
Build and analyze solar designs using Solesca — mandatory.
Perform PVsyst modeling and production analysis as required.
Prepare electrical, equipment and material quantity takeoffs.
Develop accurate BOMs / BOQs from preliminary designs and plan sets.
Support project estimating, budgeting and pricing activities.
Coordinate with the Pre-Construction Head and US-based team to develop accurate and timely project estimates.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on US solar system design experience; US C&I experience preferred.
B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Hands-on Solesca experience preferred
Proven experience with solar estimation and BOM/BOQ generation.
PVsyst experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
Strong understanding of US solar electrical design practices and familiarity with NEC.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to independently produce accurate designs and takeoffs.
Work Arrangement
Remote consulting position based in India.
Regular work will be performed during IST working hours.
Availability for occasional US team meetings up to 11:00 PM IST is required; regular night-shift work is not expected.
Early joining within 2–4 weeks is preferred.
