The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:
Build and Deploy:
Design, develop, and maintain build and automated code deployment systems.
Deploy Java EE, Java and Go applications on Red Hat Linux, Windows, Azure DevOps and Red Hat OpenShift.
Install, configure, and manage API microservices in Development and System Integration Environments running on Linux/Windows platforms.
Install, configure, manage, and administer Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform.
Develop scripts of moderate complexity and scope, working with basic application system designs and specifications and utilising standard procedures and techniques.
Define, build, and deploy Docker Container Images.
Provide on-call support to ensure rapid recovery of application failures and participate in the coordination of Production implementations.
Participate in post-implementation reviews by providing recommendations for improving application development and deployment processes.
Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD):
Maintain automated continuous integration and continuous delivery systems using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps and Jenkins.
Define and maintain version control strategy in applications using GitHub.
Work closely with Project Management and QA/PTE/Production teams on defining deployment strategy to UAT/PTE/PROD environments.
Write documentation describing build, deployment, and configuration processes.
Collaborate with the Performance Test team to identify performance-related issues and opportunities for tuning enhancements.
DevOps Champion:
Drive, design, develop, implement, and maintain deployment automation from code check-in to production.
Promote an optimised and simplified lifecycle experience for internal/external partners throughout the deployment pipeline.
Collaborate with teams using Agile and DevOps principles, with a focus on cultural and people change management.
Continuously improve software engineering practices within the team, utilising a passion for automation technology.
Incident management and Troubleshooting:
Collect incident details and conduct the first assessment of the incident.
Coordinate and schedule troubleshooting calls based on application flow.
Engage respective support internally and externally, communicate updates on the resolution process, and drive for timely recovery of the test environment
Provide root cause analyses and manage retrospective actions identified through root cause.
Certificate Management:
Initiate timely certificate renewal within and client-integrated systems.
Maintain the organisation's certificate guidelines, and assist in onboarding new certificates.
Environment Provisioning:
Manage environment booking, Maintain/Improve environment booking tool, and monitor environment updates; assist in environment preparation as per the project requirements and have overall health checks in place through monitoring and alerts.
Maintain up-to-date records of environment config, dependencies, and changes.
Experimentation and Innovation:
Challenge the status quo and seek opportunities to improve and optimise the delivery process.
Increase production monitoring and infrastructure automation capabilities.
Cross-Functional Relationships:
Collaborate with application development, quality assurance, operations, infrastructure, and business partners across various technology groups to deliver high-quality products.
Works closely with project-related and regression test-related environment teams to support successful project delivery.
Partners with Performance Test teams, Project Management, and QA/PTE/Production teams on deployment and performance tuning initiatives.
Authorities / Decision Rights:
As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Job Dimensions:
Responsible for supporting multiple environments and platforms, including Red Hat Linux, Windows, Red Hat OpenShift, and related technologies.
Provides guidance and support to project and regression test environment teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Advisory role in optimising build, deployment, and automation processes across the business unit.
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of experience in the IT industry with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, with preferrable Java/GO development and Middleware administration knowledge.
Experience managing highly available Red Hat services, Solace Event-Driven services, Apache HTTP servers, Redis and Red Hat OpenShift.
Understanding of Java Virtual Machine configuration and tuning parameters.
Good knowledge of DevOps concepts, principles, and DevOps CI/CD toolsets (preferably GitHub Actions, ADO Pipelines, Jenkins pipelines).
Good understanding of Databases such as SQLMI and MongoDB.
Knowledge of certificate management.
Knowledge of monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Splunk, Loki, Prometheus).
Good understanding of RHEL Linux operating systems, Linux shell scripting (ksh, bash), and Python scripting.
Experience with application build tools (Golang, Ant, Maven), networks, Load Balancers, Firewalls, and version control systems (Git, GitHub).
Strong communication through Jira and Confluence.
