As the Director of Engineering, you will own the technology roadmap for ApnaMart across offline retail, omnichannel customer experience, supply chain optimisation, and data-driven operations. You will lead high-performing teams, architect scalable systems, and ensure that technology becomes a key differentiator in ApnaMart's 10x growth journey. This role requires strong technical depth, strategic thinking, hands-on problem-solving, and the ability to build engineering excellence in a fast-paced retail-tech environment.
Responsibilities:
Define and execute the technology strategy aligned with ApnaMart's rapid scale targets (100 1000+ stores).
Architect highly scalable, resilient, and secure systems across retail operations, POS integrations, supply chain, inventory, and the consumer app.
Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, microservices, event-driven systems, and cloud-native architectures.
Build, mentor, and scale a world-class engineering team.
Foster a culture of ownership, velocity, and high engineering standards.
Set up strong processes for code quality, design reviews, testing, deployments, and observability.
Oversee the development of reliable systems used in store operations, supply chain, and warehousing.
Drive automation-first thinking to reduce operational overhead and eliminate manual inefficiencies.
Ensure systems uptime, performance, and reliability across high-traffic periods and distributed retail environments.
Partner closely with Product, Business, Operations, and Retail teams to deliver solutions that directly impact customer experience and store performance.
Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Lead engineering involvement in strategic initiatives such as new store rollouts, digital payments, logistics optimisation, and personalisation.
Own the end-to-end delivery lifecycle for critical projects and product lines.
Prioritise engineering efforts, ensure roadmap visibility, and drive strong execution discipline.
Implement robust CI/CD, monitoring, and infrastructure automation.
Play a central role in shaping ApnaMart's technology foundation for the next decade.
Contribute to business expansion decisions with data-driven insights and technical foresight.
Champion innovation in retail-tech and bring in best practices from high-scale consumer and commerce platforms.
