Principal Engineer

As a Principal Engineer, you'll drive architecture and design for distributed systems that operate at scale, while still rolling up your sleeves as an IC. You'll work closely with product and business teams, mentor younger engineers, and solve 0-1 challenges that push both technology and the business forward. Responsibilities:
Own the architecture and design of core systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
Build and scale distributed systems to handle high loads and end-to-end flows, from design through deployment.
Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering technical excellence across the team.
Partner with product and business stakeholders to align technical decisions with growth goals (including 0-1 scaling and ARR milestones).
Contribute hands-on as an individual contributor, driving implementation while setting engineering standards.
Requirements:
13+ years of engineering experience with proven success in system design, architecture, and distributed systems.
Experience scaling products from 0-1 through at least $1M ARR, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment.
Strong proficiency in Java (preferred) or Python, with deep backend expertise.
Experience mentoring junior engineers and improving team technical depth.
Track record of designing and deploying systems capable of handling at least 20K+ RPM load and complex end-to-end flows.
Solid understanding of software development lifecycle, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment best practices.
Strong business acumen and ability to connect engineering decisions to product and revenue outcomes.

Bonus points for:
Experience with Apache Beam, Airflow, and DAG-based workflows.
Exposure to healthcare or enterprise-scale SaaS.
