Software Engineer

We're hiring our first software engineers to build and ship the MVP of ChainageX, a construction management product used on live construction sites. This is a builder role. You'll take ownership of real workflows from field data capture to backend systems to dashboards and see your work used daily by site engineers, supervisors, and project managers. You'll work closely with the founders and have access to a senior technical advisor (15+ years experience) for guidance and reviews.
Responsibilities:
End-to-end workflows from field data collection to backend to dashboards.
Backend services that move data across teams (operations, stores, accounts).
Integrations with Zoho Forms, Zoho Sign, Google Sheets, and Tally.
Internal dashboards and admin tools.
APIs, background jobs, and automation scripts.
Production systems used by real users.
Requirements:
Strong backend fundamentals.
Experience with Python or Node.js (Python preferred).
Comfort with APIs, databases, and integrations.
Ownership mindset and clear communication.
Experience building internal tools or dashboards.
Exposure to data pipelines or automation.
Basic frontend skills.
Early-stage startup or MVP experience.
Tech Stack (MVP):
Backend: Python + FastAPI.
Database: PostgreSQL.
Frontend: React.
Mobile data collection: ODK / KoboToolbox.
Analytics and dashboards: Metabase.
Infrastructure: Docker on AWS or GCP.
