The Manager, Data Engineering is a leader and a coach for their team, responsible for keeping them organized, motivated, and engaged in delivering high-quality, scalable software that addresses key business problems. This role will be responsible for leading a team of specialists in data engineering, helping bring key products and product features to life for Assent and its customers.
Responsibilities:
Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing and engaged team of data engineers.
Coach the team to deliver high-quality, scalable features that fit Assent's business context and solve problems for our customers.
Coordinate and allocate work amongst the team of data engineers, and drive delivery.
Champion product quality in the team.
Establish and maintain a rapport with other teams in the product value chain (Product Management, User Experience, Quality Assurance, Customer Success, and Infrastructure).
Visualize upcoming work.
Manage product releases by monitoring progress to plan and proactively making necessary adjustments to meet the delivery schedule and requirements.
Ensure the team is developing software that follows Assent's Design Guidelines and Coding Standards, Assent's Security Guidelines, and any other guidelines that may be provided by the Architecture team from time to time. Assent 2024 / Assent.com 1

Requirements:

10+ years of experience of progressive experience in a data-focused role (e. g., data engineering, database development, architecture), with a proven track record in a similar leadership role.
Strong mentoring and coaching skills - you use empathy and listening to keep your team engaged and motivated to excel.
Strong technical background, with experience in AWS, Snowflake, dbt, Python, SQL, and working with large volumes of unstructured data and data warehousing technologies.
Strong growth mindset - you approach every challenge as an opportunity to learn and improve.
Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and manage both short-term projects with tight timelines and ongoing long-term strategies to meet project, budget, and quality goals.
Strategic and business-minded - a clear business thinker with analytical strength and a quick grasp of the important elements.
Highly adaptable and flexible - you thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and deal well with ambiguity.
