Company Description The Sunrise Student Investment Club at IIM Visakhapatnam is a data-driven in-house investment team that conducts research on live market data across multiple time frames using both quantitative and qualitative models. The club’s members, including junior and senior fund managers, actively manage a portfolio of funds and share insights through sector and equity analyst reports, as well as guest lectures from industry professionals. Sunrise Investment Club focuses on deepening the IIM Visakhapatnam community’s understanding of financial markets, asset markets, and personal finance by fostering a strong investment education culture. It offers students real-time exposure to investment decision-making and enables them to apply PGP quantitative learnings to enhance their corporate readiness and personal financial management. Knowledge transfer is supported through mentoring by Senior Fund Managers and faculty guidance, giving students hands-on experience in investment management.
Role Description As a full-time Member of Sunrise Investment Club, IIM Visakhapatnam, located on-site in Mumbai, you will participate in end-to-end investment research and portfolio management activities. On a day-to-day basis, you will analyze live market data, build and refine quantitative and qualitative models, and contribute to sector and equity research reports. You will collaborate with junior and senior fund managers to evaluate investment opportunities, track portfolio performance, and support strategy discussions. The role also involves preparing research presentations, assisting in organizing guest lectures, and engaging in knowledge-sharing sessions with the IIM Visakhapatnam community. Members are expected to stay updated on market developments, adhere to research standards, and actively contribute to a culture of rigorous, ethical investing.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong analytical and quantitative skills, including comfort with financial data analysis, basic statistics, and spreadsheet-based modeling.
Candidates should possess foundational knowledge of financial markets, investment instruments, and portfolio management concepts.
Candidates should possess solid research and writing abilities to produce clear, structured sector and equity reports and concise investment theses.
Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills to work within a team of fund managers and present findings to diverse audiences.
Candidates should possess high attention to detail, ethical judgment, and the ability to follow disciplined research and investment processes.
Beneficial qualifications include enrollment in a management program (such as PGP), familiarity with valuation techniques (DCF, multiples), and interest in personal finance and long-term investing.
Experience with basic programming or data tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R, or financial databases) and prior participation in finance or investment-related clubs or competitions is an advantage.
