Position Summary
The Head IT – UNSW Bengaluru Campus will lead the campus IT function, ensuring secure, reliable, scalable, and high-quality technology services that support teaching, learning, research, student experience, and business operations.
The role will provide strategic and operational leadership across IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, digital initiatives, vendor management, and IT service delivery, while ensuring alignment with UNSW's technology standards and institutional priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the IT strategy, roadmap, operations, and service delivery for the Bengaluru Campus.
Oversee campus infrastructure including networks, servers, cloud environments, telecommunications, end-user technology, and classroom/AV systems.
Ensure high availability, performance, cybersecurity, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity of IT services.
Lead cybersecurity, data protection, IT risk management, and compliance initiatives.
Oversee core enterprise systems including LMS, student systems, ERP, email, identity management, and collaboration platforms.
Lead IT projects, system implementations, technology upgrades, and digital transformation initiatives.
Manage technology vendors, service providers, contracts, procurement, and IT assets.
Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring effective and cost-efficient use of technology investments.
Lead, mentor, and develop the campus IT team, fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
Partner with UNSW central IT, academic and professional teams, and senior leadership to ensure seamless technology services across the campus.
Act as the senior technology escalation point for major incidents, risks, and technology-related decisions.
Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
8+ years of relevant IT experience, with significant experience in IT operations or technology leadership.
Proven experience managing IT teams and technology operations in a complex organisation; higher-education experience is desirable.
Strong knowledge of infrastructure, networks, cloud, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, and end-user technology.
Experience leading IT projects, digital transformation, vendor management, procurement, and budgeting.
Strong understanding of information security, risk management, business continuity, and compliance.
Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder-management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Relevant certifications such as ITIL, CISSP, CCNA, Microsoft, AWS, or equivalent are desirable.
