About ĀTMAN
ĀTMAN is an early-stage AI company from India. We're currently moving from idea to prototype, exploring a different way of building AI around the individual rather than the average.
We're still small, which means the things we create now will become the foundation for what ĀTMAN becomes later.
About the role
We're looking for a Founding Designer who can take ownership of how ĀTMAN looks, feels, and communicates.
Not just the product.
You'll be responsible for the design language across product UI/UX, interaction, design systems, website, brand, marketing, and the visual work we put into the world.
You'll work directly with the founding team and help establish the foundations of ĀTMAN's design rather than simply working within an existing system.
We also want to build something that feels genuinely ours. That means understanding the depth of Indian design history, visual culture, architecture, craft, typography, systems, and ways of thinking, and knowing how to draw from them thoughtfully without turning them into superficial decoration.

We're looking for someone who
Has strong visual and product design instincts
Cares deeply about details, clarity, and consistency
Can think beyond individual screens
Understands typography, layout, interaction, UI/UX, and design systems
Has curiosity about Indian design history and visual culture
Can find meaningful connections between traditional and contemporary Indian design
Knows the difference between inspiration and imitation
Can turn rough ideas into clear, thoughtful designs
Is comfortable working with ambiguity and figuring things out as we go
Can explain why something should look or work a certain way
Wants genuine ownership rather than simply completing assigned tasks
What matters to us
You don't need a particular degree.
You don't need a long list of companies on your resume.
Your portfolio matters more.
We want to see what you've made, what you notice, and how you approach design.
We're especially interested in people who have explored things outside conventional UI design too: visual experiments, posters, typography, motion, architecture, illustration, physical design, cultural references, or anything else that has shaped how you see design.
The opportunity
This is an early-stage role with a lot of room to influence what comes next.
You'll work closely with the founding team and have a direct say in establishing the design foundations of ĀTMAN.
For the right person, this isn't meant to be just another job on a resume. We want to find someone who can grow with ĀTMAN and eventually become the person who owns its design direction.
