Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Art Dealer role based in Chennai. The Art Dealer will manage day-to-day gallery operations, including organizing exhibitions, maintaining displays, and ensuring the gallery is visually appealing and visitor-friendly. The role involves engaging with clients, understanding their preferences, presenting artworks, and guiding them through purchase decisions. The Art Dealer will handle sales transactions, maintain inventory records, and support basic gallery administration tasks such as scheduling, documentation, and coordination with artists. The position requires consistent on-site presence to oversee the gallery floor, respond to inquiries, and help build long-term relationships with collectors and visitors.
Qualifications
Strong customer service skills and the ability to create a professional, welcoming experience for visitors and clients.
Experience with gallery administration or similar operational responsibilities, including organizing, documentation, and inventory handling.
Knowledge and appreciation of art, including different styles and mediums, and the ability to communicate artistic value clearly.
Sales skills with a focus on ethical, consultative selling, and the ability to guide buyers through selection and purchase decisions.
Understanding of decoration and display principles to curate visually appealing layouts and exhibitions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with artists, clients, and partners.
Attention to detail, reliability, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a busy gallery environment.
Previous experience in art sales, galleries, design studios, or related fields is an advantage.
