Role Description This is a full-time Field Engineer role in a hybrid work model, based in Tiruchirappalli with some flexibility for work from home for planning, documentation, and reporting activities. The Field Engineer will perform on-site inspection, maintenance, and repair of JCB equipment at customer locations, ensuring machines operate safely and efficiently. Daily tasks include diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, coordinating with the service team for parts and tools, and providing clear explanations of work performed to customers. The role involves preparing service reports, maintaining accurate records in company systems, and adhering to safety and quality standards. The Field Engineer will collaborate closely with service managers and colleagues, support warranty and preventive maintenance programs, and participate in ongoing technical training.
Qualifications
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude for construction and earthmoving equipment, with the ability to diagnose and repair technical issues on-site.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, service manuals, and basic computer applications for documentation and reporting.
Effective communication and customer service skills to explain technical findings, manage expectations, and build long-term client relationships.
Good organizational and time management skills to handle multiple service calls, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Relevant technical diploma or degree in Mechanical, Automobile, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent field) preferred.
Previous experience in field service, heavy equipment maintenance, or automotive service is an advantage.
Commitment to workplace safety, adherence to company procedures, and willingness to travel within the region as required.
Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively with service and parts teams in a hybrid work environment.
