Gallic Entertainment is a small indie studio based in India. We are looking for a Mid-Senior Game Designer to join us full-time (Fully Remote) and help shape Silkgrove, our upcoming solarpunk cozy open-world RPG.
Silkgrove is a single-player RPG focused on exploration, restoration, crafting, resource management, community development, and discovering the history of a post-apocalyptic world. The game is currently in Pre-Alpha, with the core experience actively being developed.
We are looking for a strong, gameplay-focused designer with proven experience shipping commercial games who can help us improve the moment-to-moment experience and make the game's systems work together naturally.

Experience or strong familiarity with games such as My Time at Portia, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and solarpunk/cozy simulation experiences is a strong advantage. Understanding the solarpunk genre and its themes, or a willingness to learn and engage with it, is also important.
The next few months are very important for Silkgrove. We are refining the Pre-Alpha build and building a new team, so we need someone highly committed, proactive, and hardworking who is ready to take ownership and push the game forward. Responsibilities:
Own and refine the core gameplay loop and overall player experience
Design and balance gameplay systems, progression, economies, resources, tools, upgrades, and activities
Improve moment-to-moment gameplay, pacing, and overall game flow
Design quests, objectives, interactions, and gameplay activities
Review, refine, and expand the existing Game Design Document (GDD), improving its systems, structure, and overall design direction as the game evolves
Work closely with the Level Designer and Narrative Designer to connect gameplay, exploration, and story
Create and maintain clear game design documentation
Playtest the game regularly, identify problems, and iterate on solutions
Work closely with programmers, leads, and artists to take designs from concept to implementation
Evaluate player feedback and use it to improve the game throughout development
Contribute to gameplay balancing and polish through Alpha, Beta, and Gold
What We're Looking For:
4+ years of professional game design experience
Proven experience shipping commercial games
Strong understanding of RPG design and systems
Experience designing games in one or more of the following genres: RPG, simulation, cozy, sandbox, and survival/crafting
Experience with level design and understanding of level flow, exploration, pacing, and player guidance
Strong experience with system design, economy design, progression, balancing, and player motivation
Strong understanding of gameplay loops, pacing, player progression, and overall game flow
Experience designing quests, activities, resources, crafting, and progression systems
Ability to identify why a gameplay experience is not working and propose practical solutions
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Comfortable working closely with a small multidisciplinary Indie team
Experience with Unreal Engine, Unity Engine
