Role Description The Fully Funded PhD Position at BITS Pilani is a full-time, on-site role based at the Pilani campus. The PhD candidate will conduct original research under faculty supervision, including literature review, experimental or theoretical work, data collection, analysis, and publication of results in peer-reviewed venues. Day-to-day responsibilities include attending and contributing to seminars, group meetings, and coursework (as required), collaborating with research teams, and presenting progress to supervisors and committees. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the academic environment, which may include assisting in laboratory work, mentoring junior students, and limited teaching or tutorial support as assigned. The position is fully funded, subject to satisfactory academic and research performance and adherence to institute policies.
Qualifications
Strong academic background with a relevant master’s degree (or equivalent) in the chosen discipline (e.g., engineering, science, or humanities) from a recognized institution.
Demonstrated research aptitude, including ability to conduct literature reviews, design studies or experiments, analyze data, and interpret results.
Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, including academic writing, presentation skills, and the ability to document research clearly.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Motivation for pursuing advanced research, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to completing a PhD within the stipulated time frame.
Ability to meet BITS Pilani’s admission requirements and competitive merit standards; prior publications, conference presentations, or project work are advantageous.
Willingness to reside on campus in Pilani and participate fully in the institute’s academic, research, and community activities.
