About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Globalease GE Limited is a UK registered immigration advisory and global mobility consultancy. We work with founders, skilled professionals and businesses across routes including the Innovator Founder Visa, Skilled Worker, Self Sponsorship and Global Talent. Our practice was built on one principle: clients get honest, competent advice rather than whatever earns the highest commission.
About the role
We are engaging a freelance business plan writer on a contractual, per project basis to produce business plans for our Innovator Founder Visa clients. These plans go to UK endorsing bodies, not to investors. The route lives or dies on how well the plan evidences innovation, viability and scalability, so we need someone who understands that assessment framework properly.
This is ongoing work for the right person. We have a steady flow of endorsement cases and want one reliable writer we can build a long term working relationship with.
What you will be doing
• Joining a discovery call with each client at the start of the file. This is a core part of the role, not an optional extra.
• Working with the client to shape, test and strengthen the business concept where it needs development.
• Researching the sector, market, competitors and regulatory context properly.
• Writing the complete business plan with three year financial projections, structured to endorsement criteria.
• Handling two rounds of revision per file.
• Joining a follow up call if the endorsing body raises questions or requests amendments.
• Coordinating with our operations team on timelines and client communication.
What we are looking for
• Proven experience writing business plans for UK Innovator Founder Visa, or the earlier Innovator and Start Up routes, that have gone to endorsement.
• Working knowledge of the current UK endorsing bodies and how each assesses an application.
• Ability to build three year financial projections that hold up to scrutiny.
• Strong research ability across unfamiliar sectors. Our clients span AI, agritech, SaaS, healthcare, logistics and more.
• Excellent written English. The plan must read as the founder’s own document.
• Genuine human authorship. We are explicit about this: we can generate AI drafts in house. We are paying for original thinking, real research and professional judgement. Drafts that read as machine output will be returned and will not be accepted.
• Professional communication and reliability. Responding to messages, honouring agreed timelines, and joining scheduled calls are basic expectations of this engagement.
Engagement terms
• Contractual, per project. Not a salaried or retained position.
• Fixed fee agreed per file before work begins.
• First draft within 10 working days of the discovery call.
• Two rounds of revision included in the fee.
• Payment on milestones: part on delivery of an approved first draft, balance on final delivery.
• NDA required. All client information is strictly confidential.
Who is a good fit
Someone who has actually sat with founders, understood a half formed idea and turned it into something an endorsing body will back.
Someone comfortable saying “this concept will not pass, here is what needs to change.”
Someone who wants repeat work from one client rather than chasing one off gigs.
Who is not a good fit
Writers whose experience is investor pitch decks
US style fundraising plans or generic startup templates
Agencies subcontracting to unnamed writers
Anyone unwilling to speak to clients directly.
