UI/UX Designer
Mobile Product Design | UX | Prototyping | Design Systems
Location: Pune, in office, five days a week
Experience: 1–3 years
Employment: Full-time
About Frep
Frep is a personalized meal-planning app that helps households decide what to eat based on their preferences, dietary needs, pantry, and cooking habits.
Our catalogue includes 8,000+ recipes across Indian regional and international cuisines, and we are building for India first.
The Role
We are looking for a UI/UX Designer who can turn complex product problems into simple, intuitive experiences.
You will work closely with the founders, product, and engineering team, and will have a real say in how the product works, not just how it looks.
Your Scope of Work
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Designing mobile features from concept to final UI.
Creating user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and interaction flows.
Improving onboarding, meal planning, pantry, recipe, and grocery experiences.
Building and maintaining our design system.
Using analytics and user feedback to identify usability issues.
Working closely with engineers through implementation.
Exploring multiple solutions before deciding what should be built.
Using AI tools for research, ideation, prototyping, and faster execution.
What We Are Really Looking For
We care about six things:
You can simplify complicated product problems.
You think about user behaviour, not just visual design.
You can clearly explain and defend your design decisions.
You have strong attention to detail.
You are comfortable challenging an idea when you see a better solution.
You have excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
Strong English communication is non-negotiable.
What Helps
You should ideally have:
1–3 years of UI/UX or product design experience.
Strong Figma skills.
Experience designing mobile products.
Good knowledge of user flows, information hierarchy, interaction design, and prototyping.
An understanding of design systems.
Experience working closely with developers.
Experience with consumer apps, AI products, personalization, food, health, or data-heavy products is useful, but not required.
Your Portfolio Matters
We want to see more than polished screens.
Show us how you think:
What problem were you solving?
What options did you consider?
Why did you choose the final direction?
What did you personally own?
One strong case study is more valuable than a portfolio full of attractive screens with no context.
How We Work
We move quickly and expect designers to be involved throughout the product process.
We also use AI tools extensively across the company. You should be comfortable using them for research, ideation, prototyping, content exploration, and repetitive work.
AI can generate options. You still need the judgement to decide what should actually ship.
Why Frep
You will work on a consumer product where design directly affects usability, engagement, and retention.
You will get exposure to mobile UX, personalization, recommendations, AI, behavioural data, and real product decisions.
You will also join early enough to meaningfully shape how Frep looks, feels, and works.
