About the Role
Black Diamond Media & Production Pvt. Ltd. is looking for a highly experienced and creatively strong Senior Storyboard & Concept Artist who can take ownership of the creative visual development of our animation projects.
The ideal candidate should have an in-depth understanding of storyboarding, visual storytelling, art direction, camera language, composition, cinematography, character staging, environment design, mood, lighting, continuity, and overall visual development.
This role is not limited to creating storyboards. The candidate will be expected to work closely with the creative and production teams to translate scripts and ideas into strong visual sequences and ensure that the creative vision is maintained throughout production.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop detailed and production-ready storyboards based on scripts, concepts, and creative briefs.
* Establish the visual language and creative direction of sequences and projects.
* Determine appropriate camera angles, camera movements, framing, lens choices, perspective, composition, and shot sizes.
* Plan scenes with a strong understanding of cinematography and visual storytelling.
* Decide how characters, environments, props, and camera work together within each shot.
* Create compelling visual narratives, story beats, sequences, and shot breakdowns.
* Develop concept art and visual references for characters, environments, locations, props, compositions, and key moments.
* Establish mood, atmosphere, visual tone, scale, depth, and emotional impact of scenes.
* Provide clear visual direction to 3D artists, animators, lighting artists, compositors, and other creative departments.
* Ensure that the creative intent established during pre-production is maintained throughout production.
* Review shots and sequences and provide meaningful creative feedback and corrections.
* Identify visual storytelling issues and suggest improvements before production progresses.
* Work closely with writers, directors, animators, modeling artists, lighting artists, compositors, and production teams.
* Help establish character staging, blocking, poses, expressions, eyelines, and screen direction.
* Maintain continuity of camera language, character positioning, environments, and visual storytelling across sequences.
* Develop storyboards, thumbnails, shot layouts, mood boards, visual references, and concept explorations as required.
* Participate in creative discussions and contribute ideas for improving stories and sequences.
* Assist the creative leadership team in establishing the overall visual identity and artistic direction of projects.
* Ensure that every shot serves the story, emotion, pacing, and intended audience.
* Take ownership of the creative quality of assigned sequences from concept through production.

What We’re Looking For
* Minimum 5 years of professional experience in storyboarding, concept art, animation, visual development, art direction, or a closely related field.
* Strong portfolio demonstrating professional storyboards and concept artwork.
* Excellent understanding of cinematography and camera language.
* Ability to visualize a complete scene or sequence before it goes into production.
* Strong understanding of how camera, character, environment, lighting, composition, and storytelling work together.
* Ability to interpret a script and convert written descriptions into compelling visuals.
* Strong knowledge of animation production workflows and dependencies between creative departments.
* Ability to communicate creative ideas clearly to artists and production teams.
* Strong observational and visual problem-solving skills.
* Excellent understanding of perspective, anatomy, composition, proportions, scale, and spatial continuity.
* Ability to work on multiple sequences while maintaining consistency and quality.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to understand the larger creative vision.
* Ability to take feedback positively and provide constructive creative feedback to others.
* Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
* Ability to work independently and take ownership of the creative aspects of a project.
Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following will be an added advantage:
* 3D animated series
* Kids’ animation
* Feature animation

* TV series
* Advertising films
* Cinematic productions
* Game cinematics
* Character-driven storytelling
* Original IP development
Software Knowledge
Proficiency in relevant storyboard and concept-art tools such as:
* Photoshop
* Storyboard Pro / Toon Boom
* Procreate
* Illustrator
* Blender or other 3D software
* Any other professional storyboard, concept, or visualization software
Strong artistic and storytelling ability is more important than knowledge of a specific software.
What You Will Own
As a Senior Storyboard & Concept Artist, you will play a key role in shaping the visual execution of our projects.
You will be responsible for answering questions such as:
How should the scene look?
Where should the camera be?
What should the audience see first?
How should the characters be staged?
What should the camera do?
How should the scene feel?
How should the story flow visually?
What visual treatment will make the sequence stronger?
You will work closely with the creative team to ensure that the story, visuals, camera, art direction, and production execution all work together as one cohesive creative vision.
