Android Developer

About the Role
Visiable Consulting LLP is looking for a skilled and motivated *Android Developer* to join our technology team. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, maintaining and improving Android applications for internal and client-facing projects.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of Android application development, be comfortable working with *Kotlin*, and have the ability to convert business and technical requirements into reliable, scalable and user-friendly mobile applications.
### Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop and maintain high-quality Android applications using *Kotlin* and the Android SDK.
* Develop modern, responsive and user-friendly mobile interfaces using *Jetpack Compose and/or XML-based layouts*.
* Understand project requirements and translate them into functional technical solutions.
* Integrate Android applications with *REST APIs, backend services and third-party SDKs*.
* Implement appropriate Android architecture and maintain clean, modular and reusable code.
* Work with Android Jetpack components such as *ViewModel, Navigation, Room, WorkManager and StateFlow/LiveData*, wherever applicable.
* Perform debugging, troubleshooting and performance optimization of applications.
* Write and maintain unit tests and UI tests to ensure application quality and stability.
* Participate in code reviews and follow established coding and development standards.
* Use *Git/version-control systems* for source-code management and collaborative development.
* Work closely with UI/UX designers, backend developers, QA engineers, project managers and other team members.
* Fix bugs, resolve production issues and implement improvements based on user/client requirements.
* Assist with application build, release and deployment processes, including Google Play Store releases where required.
* Maintain appropriate technical documentation for applications and assigned projects.
* Stay updated with emerging Android technologies, development practices and security standards.
* Ensure that applications follow appropriate security, privacy, performance and usability practices.
### Required Skills & Technical Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in *Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field*, or equivalent practical experience.
* 1–4 years of hands-on experience in Android application development.
* Strong knowledge of *Kotlin*.
* Good understanding of *Android SDK, Android Studio and Android application lifecycle*.
* Experience with *Jetpack Compose and/or XML layouts*.
* Understanding of *MVVM, Clean Architecture or similar Android architecture patterns*.
* Knowledge of *REST APIs, JSON and API integration*.
* Familiarity with *Git/GitHub/GitLab or other version-control systems*.
* Understanding of Android debugging and performance optimization.
* Knowledge of local data storage such as *Room, SQLite, DataStore or SharedPreferences*.
* Familiarity with Android testing frameworks such as *JUnit and Espresso* is preferred.
* Good understanding of object-oriented programming and software development principles.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
### Good to Have
* Experience with *Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines and Flow*.
* Experience with *Hilt/Dagger* or another dependency-injection framework.
* Familiarity with *Firebase, Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics*.
* Experience with CI/CD and automated build/release pipelines.
* Experience integrating payment gateways, maps, notifications or other third-party SDKs.
* Knowledge of Android application security and secure data handling.
* Experience publishing and maintaining applications on the *Google Play Store*.
* Exposure to Agile/Scrum development environments.
* Experience working on client projects or technology-consulting assignments.

### What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is not only capable of writing Android code but can *understand requirements, take ownership of assigned features, troubleshoot problems and contribute to the complete development lifecycle of an application*.
Candidates with *published Android applications, GitHub projects, portfolio applications or relevant project experience* will be preferred.
