Location: Pune (Kharadi)
Experience Level: Mid to Senior
Employment Type: Full-time
CTC: 6 LPA to 8 LPA
About Valar Ecom
We're a 35+ person Shopify agency based in Pune, building for high-growth DTC brands across the UK and US. Our work spans Shopify Plus builds, CRO, subscription infrastructure, retention, and multi-store international expansion. We care about clean engineering and real business impact for the brands we work with.
About the Role
We're looking for a Shopify Full Stack Developer who enjoys building seamless, high-performing, and visually polished e-commerce experiences. You'll work across Shopify's front-end and back-end layers — building custom themes, extending Shopify's capabilities using Liquid and TypeScript, and integrating APIs to deliver scalable, optimized storefronts. If you like turning design mock-ups into pixel-perfect, fast-loading storefronts and solving real e-commerce problems with clean, maintainable code, this role is for you.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
A typical month might include:
● Building or customizing a Shopify theme from scratch based on a Figma design, making sure it's pixel-perfect and fast-loading across devices
● Extending a client's storefront using Liquid and TypeScript to add a custom feature — say, a subscription flow or a product bundling widget
● Working with the Shopify Admin API, Storefront API, or GraphQL to integrate a third-party tool like an ERP, CRM, or marketing platform
● Setting up or troubleshooting webhooks and OAuth-based API authentication for a custom app
● Debugging a tricky cross-browser or performance issue flagged during QA, and tracing it back to root cause
● Reviewing Core Web Vitals and Lighthouse scores for a storefront and making targeted optimizations
● Pairing with a UI/UX designer to make sure an implementation matches the intended design down to the details
● Managing a theme or app deployment, and keeping the CI/CD and version-control workflow clean
● Exploring headless/Hydrogen-based setups for a client interested in a more custom front-end architecture
What We're Looking For
● Strong proficiency in Shopify Liquid, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and Bootstrap
● Experience building and customizing Shopify themes from scratch
● Solid understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and performance optimization
● Strong understanding of Shopify's data models (Products, Collections, Customers, Orders, etc.)
● Experience developing custom Shopify apps using Node.js, TypeScript, or Ruby on Rails
● Hands-on experience with Shopify APIs — Admin API, Storefront API, and GraphQL
● Working knowledge of webhooks, OAuth authentication, and Shopify Plus workflows
● Comfort designing integrations with third-party tools (ERP, CRM, analytics, marketing systems)
● Understanding of REST and GraphQL APIs, rate limits, and caching techniques
● Strong grasp of Git/GitHub and collaborative version control
● Experience with manual and automated testing for e-commerce functionality
● Understanding of SEO best practices, structured data, and page performance metrics
● Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort working in Agile/Scrum teams
● We don't care about degrees or pedigree — we care about what you can build and how you think
Nice to Have (not required)
● Experience with JavaScript frameworks like React, especially for headless or Hydrogen-based setups
● Exposure to Shopify CLI and build tools like Webpack or Vite
● Familiarity with CDN optimization, error tracking, and web performance monitoring tools
● Prior experience working on global/international Shopify stores
What We Offer
● Opportunity to work on global Shopify stores and headless commerce architectures
● A collaborative, engineering-first culture that values innovation and code quality
● Exposure to cutting-edge Shopify tech (Hydrogen, Oxygen, Remix)
● Flexible working environment and work-life balance
● Competitive compensation and career growth opportunities
