Manager - Direct Taxation

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager – Direct Tax to manage and oversee the organization’s global direct tax matters. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in income tax, transfer pricing regulations, international tax concepts, and tax considerations relating to restructurings. The role involves compliance, advisory, planning, documentation, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders across the global business.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Tax Compliance & Reporting
Manage direct tax compliances, including filing corporate income tax returns, tax computations, and advance tax workings for group oversees entities in European/ UK jurisdiction.
Prepare and review tax provisioning, deferred tax calculations, and tax disclosures for financial statements.
Handle direct tax assessments, queries, appeals, and responses to tax authorities.
Ensure accurate and timely processing of TDS/TCS compliances, statements, and reconciliations.
Transfer Pricing Compliance & Planning
Oversee and review end-to-end Transfer Pricing documentation, including Local File, Master File, Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR)
Support transfer pricing, benchmarking, intercompany agreements, and global TP policies.
Assist in planning and aligning intercompany transactions with arm’s‑length principles.
Manage TP assessments, audits, and defense strategies.
International Tax & Cross-Border Advisory
Provide guidance on DTAA applications, withholding tax, BEPS considerations, PE risk, and global tax developments.
Assist in tax planning for cross-border transactions, repatriations, and intercompany flows.
Monitor global tax law changes and assess impact on existing structures.
Process & Controls
Implement and strengthen internal controls relating to direct tax compliance.
Work closely with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, Secretarial) to ensure accurate tax treatment of transactions.
Support tax technology improvements, automation, and ERP‑based tax configuration.
Monitor changes in European/ UK direct laws, income-tax, BEPS regulations, thin-capitalisaiton, TP regulations etc.
Advisory & Support
Provide day-to-day advisory on direct tax matters for international operations.
Review contracts, invoices, and cross‑border arrangements from a tax standpoint.
Assist in planning and optimizing direct tax positions within legal frameworks.
Qualifications & Skills:
Chartered Accountant (CA) mandatory; additional qualification (LLB/MBA in Finance) is a plus.
Around 5 years of experience in direct tax role, preferably in large MNCs or Big 4 firms.
Strong understanding of Income Tax Act, DTAA, OECD TP guidelines, international tax principles, BEPS frameworks.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
