You will work closely with a U.S.-based finance and lending team and play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, reconciling loan servicing activity, and ensuring borrower and investor-facing information is accurate.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Month-End Close
Own and manage monthly close activities across multiple entities.
Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaid schedules, and intercompany reconciliations/eliminations.
Perform bank reconciliations across operating, servicing, escrow, and fund accounts.
Manage AP and AR activities and support weekly payment processes.
Maintain fixed asset and loan asset schedules.
Reconcile loan servicing records to the general ledger and investigate variances through resolution.
Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for audits and tax preparation.
Support fund accounting activities, including capital contributions, distributions, investor allocations, and NAV-related schedules.
Develop and maintain clear documentation for recurring accounting and reporting processes.
Loan Servicing
Board newly closed loans into the servicing system, including loan terms, interest rates, payment schedules, fees, reserves, and other relevant details.
Post and apply borrower payments and reconcile servicing activity.
Calculate and verify interest accruals, per diem interest, default interest, extension fees, and late charges.
Prepare payoff quotes and demand statements and coordinate payoff processing.
Support construction and interest reserve draw administration and reconcile reserve balances.
Track escrow and impound accounts for taxes and insurance where applicable.
Maintain delinquency and aging reports and escalate exceptions promptly.
Prepare monthly loan tapes and servicing reports for internal teams and capital partners.
Respond professionally to borrower servicing inquiries and coordinate with third-party servicers when required.
Required Qualifications
Chartered Accountant (CA) – ICAI qualified.
CA Inter with substantial relevant experience, or equivalent qualifications such as CPA or ACCA, may be considered.
Minimum 5-7 years of post-qualification accounting experience.
At least 2 years of experience in financial services, lending, banking, NBFC, fund accounting, or a related industry.
Strong understanding of accrual accounting and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Lookups, reconciliations, and financial models.
Proven experience independently managing a month-end close cycle.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to reviewing work before submission.
Ability to work U.S. Eastern Time hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience in loan servicing or loan operations.
Experience in private lending, bridge lending, hard money lending, commercial real estate debt, or mortgage servicing.
Experience with loan servicing platforms such as The Mortgage Office, FCI Lender Services, Mortgage Automator, or similar systems.
Experience with Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or comparable cloud accounting platforms.
Exposure to fund accounting, waterfall/preferred return calculations, or investor reporting.
Previous experience working directly with a U.S.-based finance or lending team.
What We’re Looking For
Ownership: Able to take responsibility for assigned accounting and servicing activities with minimal day-to-day supervision.
Accuracy: Understands that financial and servicing accuracy is critical when dealing with borrowers, investors, and lending transactions.
Analytical Thinking: Comfortable investigating reconciliations, identifying variances, and resolving issues rather than simply reporting them.
Adaptability: Comfortable learning new systems and processes and contributing to process improvements.
Proactive Communication: Willing to raise questions, discrepancies, and potential issues early.
Why Join
This is an opportunity to work closely with a U.S.-based private lending and financial services team while gaining hands-on exposure to both accounting and loan servicing operations. The role offers the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of financial processes, work with U.S. lending operations, and develop specialized experience across accounting, private credit, and loan servicing.
