Role Description The Metrology Service Engineer – Chennai role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Chennai area, with responsibility for supporting metrology equipment installed at customer locations. Day-to-day tasks include installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of products such as height gauges, VMMs, CMMs, and linear scales. The role involves diagnosing technical issues, performing troubleshooting and field service activities, and providing timely technical support to ensure minimal equipment downtime. The engineer will interact with customers to understand issues, explain findings, and recommend preventive maintenance practices. Documentation of service activities, coordination with the internal R&D and production teams, and adherence to safety and quality standards are integral to this position.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Troubleshooting and Technical Support skills for metrology and industrial measurement systems.
Candidates should possess Maintenance & Repair capabilities for precision instruments, electronic components, and mechanical assemblies.
Candidates should possess Field Service experience, including on-site customer visits, installation, and commissioning of equipment.
Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to interact with customers, prepare service reports, and coordinate with internal teams.
Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics.
Ability to read technical drawings, use standard metrology tools, and work with diagnostic equipment.
Comfort with frequent travel to customer sites and working in industrial environments.
Relevant experience in metrology, machine tools, automation, or precision engineering service roles is an advantage.
